Seasonal events have become one of Infinity Kingdom's most recognizable traditions, offering players a familiar mix of challenges, rewards, and progression opportunities every few months. At first glance, Summer Carnival appears to follow that same successful formula.

Look a little closer, however, and you'll notice that this event isn't simply introducing a new summer theme. Behind the Fishing Contest and returning seasonal activities lies a much bigger shift in design. For the first time, the game's most valuable rewards are no longer centered on universal account progression, but on the newly introduced Immortal Outfit System.

Summer Carnival may not reinvent how seasonal events are played, but it could very well redefine what players are playing for.

Introduction

If you've participated in previous seasonal events such as the Original Festival, Children's Day, or Hunting Festival, Summer Carnival will feel immediately familiar. The overall structure remains largely unchanged, bringing back the same progression loop that players have learned to expect over the past year.

Once again, you'll complete challenges, collect Tokens of Light, advance through a seasonal Battle Pass, participate in limited-time activities, and exchange event currencies in dedicated shops. The formula has proven successful, and Infinity Kingdom wisely avoids changing something that already works well.

Yet beneath this familiar framework lies a subtle but important evolution. While the event's mechanics have changed very little, the destination of nearly every reward has changed dramatically. Instead of emphasizing broad account development through resources like Philosopher's Stones, Soul Crystals, or Castle Skins, Summer Carnival places Immortal Outfits at the heart of its progression.

That single decision gives the event a very different identity. Rather than simply asking players to collect as many resources as possible, Summer Carnival encourages them to invest in specific Immortals, making progression feel more focused and, depending on your roster, potentially more rewarding or more restrictive.

1. A Familiar Festival with a New Purpose

If you've experienced previous seasonal events, you'll immediately feel at home in Summer Carnival. The familiar formula returns once again, inviting players to complete limited-time activities, collect Tokens of Light, progress through a seasonal Battle Pass, conquer the Glorious Challenge and Pinnacle Trial, and exchange currencies through the Challenge Shop and Grail Shop.

Even Dazzling Wish makes its return, continuing the seasonal cycle that has become a defining feature of Infinity Kingdom.

This consistency is far from a bad thing. Over the past year, seasonal events have evolved into polished experiences that players understand almost instinctively. There is no need to relearn complicated mechanics every few months. Instead, each new festival introduces a different theme while building upon a structure that already feels familiar.

Summer Carnival embraces that philosophy perfectly. The beach atmosphere, vibrant decorations, and Fishing Contest provide the event's identity, but underneath the summer aesthetic lies the same progression loop that has worked well across previous festivals. Players still know where to find their daily objectives, how to earn event currencies, and which activities contribute to long-term progression.

What makes Summer Carnival interesting isn't that Infinity Kingdom has redesigned seasonal gameplay. Quite the opposite. The developers have chosen to preserve a formula that players already enjoy, allowing the event's biggest innovation to come from somewhere else entirely.

Because although the activities themselves feel familiar, the rewards waiting at the end of those activities no longer serve the same purpose. Nearly every major progression path now feeds into the newly introduced Immortal Outfit System, fundamentally changing what players are working toward throughout the event.

Maël's Opinion: One of Infinity Kingdom's greatest strengths is that seasonal events have become immediately recognizable without feeling repetitive. Keeping a familiar structure allows players to jump straight into the action instead of learning an entirely new set of mechanics every few months. Summer Carnival understands that consistency doesn't require constant reinvention. Rather than changing how we play, it changes why we play and that's a far more meaningful evolution.

2. Fishing Contest: More Than Just a Summer Activity

Every seasonal event needs a centerpiece, and for Summer Carnival, that role belongs to the Fishing Contest. At first glance, it feels like a completely new activity, replacing the candy-themed battles of previous festivals with fishing nets, tropical scenery, and a more relaxed atmosphere. In reality, however, experienced players will quickly recognize that the underlying design follows a familiar pattern.

Players spend Magic Fishing Nets to catch fish and progress through a series of daily fishing levels, earning Tokens of Light and other rewards along the way. They can also partner with another player, adding a small cooperative element to the activity

The clever part of the Fishing Contest isn't found in the fifteen daily stages it's hidden behind the My Catch milestone system. While the daily rewards provide a steady flow of event resources, the real objective is collecting Smiley Sharks, which unlock cumulative milestones containing Alexander Outfit Fragments. This creates a much longer progression path that extends across the entire event rather than resetting every day.

This distinction is important because reaching Level 15 isn't the finish line. Instead, it's simply another step toward larger milestone rewards. Players focused only on completing the daily fishing stages could easily overlook where the event's most valuable progression actually lies. Summer Carnival encourages long-term participation rather than short bursts of activity, giving players a reason to return every day as they gradually work toward increasingly meaningful rewards.

Compared to Candy Defenders, the gameplay itself hasn't changed dramatically. What has changed is the purpose of the progression. Instead of steadily accumulating universally useful resources, Fishing Contest channels most of its premium rewards toward Alexander's Outfit progression, making every Smiley Shark feel like another step toward strengthening a specific Immortal rather than simply expanding overall account resources.

Maël's Opinion Fishing Contest succeeds because it doesn't try to reinvent seasonal gameplay. Instead, it takes a system players already understand and gives it a clear long-term objective.

3. Immortal Outfits Take Center Stage

If there's one feature that defines Summer Carnival, it's the way the event has been redesigned around the Immortal Outfit System.

Summer Carnival concentrates its premium progression on just two Immortals: Alexander and Athena. No matter which activity you choose, there's a good chance its most valuable reward ultimately leads back to one of their outfits.

Alexander is the most visible example. The Summer Passion Battle Pass awards enough Outfit Fragments to unlock his first outfit stage, while the Fishing Contest's My Catch milestones provide additional fragments for players willing to continue investing throughout the event.

Athena follows a different route. Instead of appearing through gameplay milestones, her Outfit Fragments become the headline reward in Dazzling Wish, replacing the familiar Eternal Grail jackpot that had become a staple of previous seasonal events. At the same time, the pity requirement increases significantly, making Athena's progression a much longer-term objective for players committed to building her.

Summer Carnival doesn't simply introduce Immortal Outfits as another collectible system. It makes them the destination toward which nearly every premium reward is pointing, transforming outfits from a new feature into the central objective of the entire festival. Grail shop still allows broad progression

Maël's Opinion: Their value depends entirely on whether they strengthen the Immortals you actually play. That makes progression feel much more personal, but also much more specialized. Whether that's an improvement will ultimately vary from one player to another. The Grail Shop still serves as broad rewards allowing players to build beyond Alex and Athena, which is great.

4. A New Philosophy for Seasonal Rewards

More than any individual activity, Summer Carnival is defined by a change in philosophy.

For several seasons, Infinity Kingdom followed a simple approach: participate in the event, collect currencies, and convert your efforts into resources that benefited almost every account. Philosopher's Stones, Soul Crystals, speedups, Eternal Grails, and even Castle Skins all contributed to long-term account growth, regardless of which Immortals players chose to build.

Summer Carnival breaks away from that formula.

Instead of offering universally valuable progression only, the event concentrates much of its premium value around the newly introduced Outfit System. Alexander receives dedicated progression through the Battle Pass and Fishing Contest, while Athena becomes the centerpiece of Dazzling Wish. Even exchanging Eternal Grails for Fishing Nets becomes a decision about investing in one specific Immortal rather than strengthening the account as a whole.

This doesn't necessarily make the event better or worse

For players who regularly use Alexander, Summer Carnival can feel incredibly rewarding. Every milestone, fragment, and outfit upgrade contributes directly to a march that already plays an important role in their kingdom. Likewise, Athena players finally gain a meaningful long-term objective through Dazzling Wish.

Players who don't rely on either featured Immortal may find themselves earning rewards with limited immediate value. Unlike previous festivals, where almost every premium reward could strengthen any account, much of Summer Carnival's progression now depends on whether your roster aligns with the featured characters.

This is perhaps the most interesting question raised by the event. Rather than rewarding every player equally, Infinity Kingdom is beginning to tailor seasonal progression around specific playstyles and team compositions. If this becomes the standard moving forward, future festivals may feel increasingly unique not because their activities change dramatically, but because each one highlights different Immortals and encourages different investment strategies.

Maël's Opinion I don't see Summer Carnival as a stronger or weaker seasonal event than its predecessors I see it as a different kind of seasonal event. Infinity Kingdom appears to be moving away from rewarding generic account progression and toward rewarding individual roster development. That philosophy has a lot of potential, especially as more Immortals receive outfits. The challenge will be maintaining enough flexibility so that every player can still feel excited, even when the featured Immortals aren't part of their main marches.

We will discuss difference between Alex and Athena's Ultimate skills, with and without their outfit, in dedicated articles.

  • Alex: No more attack speed cap from artifact!
  • Athena: Does she become best tank?

5. Maël's Final Opinion

Summer Carnival doesn't reinvent Infinity Kingdom's seasonal events.

Instead, it quietly redefines what players are working toward.

Mechanically, almost everything feels familiar. The Battle Pass returns, Glorious Challenge and Pinnacle Trial continue to provide the backbone of seasonal progression, Dazzling Wish makes another appearance, and the Fishing Contest successfully takes over the role previously held by Candy Defenders. Players who have experienced recent festivals will have no trouble finding their bearings.

The real innovation lies in the rewards.

By placing the Immortal Outfit System at the center of nearly every major progression path, Summer Carnival marks a clear shift in design philosophy. Rather than offering rewards that every account values equally, the event encourages players to invest more deeply in the Immortals they already use. It's a more focused approach that makes progression feel increasingly personal, even if it comes at the cost of some of the universal appeal previous festivals offered.

Whether this proves to be the right direction will depend on what comes next. If future seasonal events continue introducing outfits for a wider roster of Immortals, this system has the potential to become one of Infinity Kingdom's most engaging forms of long-term progression. Each festival could offer meaningful opportunities for different players, keeping the seasonal experience fresh without constantly reinventing the underlying gameplay.

For now, Summer Carnival feels like a turning point. Not because it changes how seasonal events are played, but because it changes what seasonal events are ultimately meant to achieve.
