Introduction
Patch 2.9.7 is one of Infinity Kingdom's smaller updates, but it still introduces an interesting new feature that could grow considerably over time.

The spotlight clearly belongs to the new Immortal Outfit System, allowing players to unlock alternate appearances for their favorite Immortals. More importantly, these outfits won't just be cosmetic they will also modify the Immortal's Ultimate Skill, opening the door to an entirely new layer of customization.
Alongside this addition, the update introduces a Decoration Shop and several quality-of-life improvements for Battle of Asteria, Ruins Exploration, Legion of Frostborne, and battle reports.
While this isn't a content-heavy patch, it feels like the first step toward a feature that may become much larger as more outfits are released in future updates.

1. Immortal Outfits Take the Spotlight
Without question, the Immortal Outfit System is the centerpiece of Patch 2.9.7.
The feature launches with two summer-themed outfits for Athena and Alexander, introducing a completely new way to customize Immortals. Outfit Fragments can be collected through Festival Events, and once enough fragments have been obtained, the outfit is permanently unlocked for that specific Immortal. Even if the Immortal is later reborn, the outfit remains available, making it a permanent collectible rather than a temporary cosmetic.
However, the real surprise isn't the visual customization.
According to the patch notes, changing an Immortal's outfit will also change their Ultimate Skill. This immediately makes the feature far more interesting than a simple cosmetic system. Unfortunately, the developers haven't revealed exactly how these new Ultimate Skills will work, so it's still too early to judge their impact on gameplay.

Could they simply be visual variations? Could they introduce completely new abilities? Or perhaps offer alternative playstyles for existing Immortals?
For now, we simply don't know.
What is clear is that this system has enormous potential if future updates continue expanding the outfit roster beyond Athena and Alexander.
Maël's Opinion: I like the direction the developers are taking here. Cosmetic customization has been requested for a long time, but tying outfits to gameplay makes the system much more exciting. At the same time, I think it's wise to stay cautious until we see exactly how these new Ultimate Skills function. If they're meaningful gameplay alternatives rather than simple visual effects, this could become one of the game's most interesting customization systems.
2. The New Decoration Shop
Alongside the Outfit System, Patch 2.9.7 introduces a new Decoration Shop.
Compared to the Outfit feature, the information provided is much more limited. The shop unlocks at Lord Level 6 and allows players to purchase exclusive Collection Outfits, but the patch notes don't specify what types of cosmetics will be available or how frequently the selection will rotate.
Even so, its arrival makes sense.
As more cosmetic content is added to the game, having a dedicated location to browse and collect outfits should make the system easier to navigate than scattering rewards across multiple events or menus.
It also suggests that Infinity Kingdom intends to expand cosmetic customization over time rather than limiting it to occasional festival rewards.
Whether the Decoration Shop remains focused on appearances alone or eventually grows to include additional collectibles remains to be seen, but its introduction provides a clear foundation for future content.
Maël's Opinion: At the moment, there's simply not enough information to judge the Decoration Shop properly. It feels more like supporting infrastructure than a major feature on its own. Its real value will depend on how many outfits, collections, and customization options are added over the coming months. Right now, it's less about what the shop offers today and more about what it enables for future updates.
3. Quality of Life Improvements
The remainder of Patch 2.9.7 is dedicated to smaller quality-of-life improvements rather than major gameplay additions.
Battle of Asteria receives another round of adjustments, with changes to Alliance difficulty and Boss HP. After the event's recent return and subsequent balancing updates, this appears to be another attempt to fine-tune the experience as more players progress through the different server seasons.
Navigation also becomes slightly more convenient. The Ruins Exploration button has been moved next to the Mail icon, making one of the game's most frequently accessed features easier to find.
Legion of Frostborne gains improved Alliance Logs, now recording registration and cancellation activity. While a relatively small addition, it should help Alliance leaders keep better track of participation during one of Infinity Kingdom's most coordinated game modes.
Finally, battle reports for Arena, Open Arena, and Throne of the Supreme have been updated. Immortal HP displayed in each combat round will now remain consistent with the values shown at the start of battle, making reports easier to read and reducing confusion when reviewing fights.
None of these adjustments will fundamentally change how the game is played, but together they continue improving the overall user experience.
Maël's Opinion: These are exactly the kind of improvements that rarely generate much excitement but gradually make the game feel more polished. I particularly like seeing Battle of Asteria continue receiving balance adjustments, as it shows the developers are still monitoring the event following its return. The interface improvements are small, but they're the sort of changes players quickly get used to, and would probably miss if they disappeared.
Maël's Final Opinion
Patch 2.9.7 isn't a major content update, and I don't think it was ever intended to be.
Instead, it introduces the foundations of what could become an important customization system while continuing to polish features added over the past few months. The Outfit System is easily the highlight of the patch, not because of the cosmetic aspect itself, but because changing an outfit also changes an Immortal's Ultimate Skill. That's the feature I'll be watching most closely once players begin unlocking and testing these new abilities.
The rest of the update is understandably modest. The Decoration Shop feels like the beginning of a larger cosmetic ecosystem, while the quality-of-life improvements continue refining existing game modes rather than reinventing them.
Overall, Patch 2.9.7 feels like a transition update. It doesn't introduce a huge amount of new content today, but it lays the groundwork for features that could become much more significant as additional outfits and future updates expand the system.
