Hello everyone,
Today I’m going to make a detailed guide explaining how to play Arena of Honor correctly.
As an active and consistent Arena of Honor player, I see many people playing — but not playing properly. And what does that mean?
Many players build random structures.
Many don’t understand priorities.
Many don’t know what to attack — or when.
So today, I’ll present the correct strategic approach to the game.
We will follow this structure:
- Map & Buildings Overview
- Battle Strategy
- Counter Strategy & Adaptation
Map & Buildings Overview

In the image, each team has:
- 1 Clan Castle
- 14 Strongholds
- 1 Sept of the Seven
- 1 Mining Site
Let’s understand what each one does and how it influences the match.
Clan Castle
The Clan Castle is the central structure of each team , it periodically sends troops to attack NPC buildings across the map , if an enemy captures your Clan Castle:
- They receive 20% of your team’s total points.

Strongholds
Strongholds can be divided into 5 types:
- Infantry Camp
- Cavalry Camp
- Spearmen Camp
- Bowman Camp
- Trading Yard
Troop Camps
Troop camps generate troops that gather in the Clan Castle , those troops are then sent to attack NPC buildings.
The higher the level of the camp:
- The better the troop quality
- More Quantity of Troops available
Without strongholds, your Clan Castle becomes weak and ineffective.

Trading Yard
Unlike troop camps, the Trading Yard does not generate troops.Instead, it increases the points generated by the Clan Castle:
- Level 1 = 30 points per minute
- Level 2 = 60 points per minute
- Level 3 = 100 points per minute
However, each Stronghold contains a Trading Yard, and the total point generation per Stronghold equals 1400 points per minute.

Sept of the Seven
This building provides:
- +100% Healing Speed

Mining Site
A simple point-generation structure.
- Provides 8,000 total points.
- Once fully collected, it becomes useless.
- After depletion, it no longer generates points.

Important Note
Strongholds, Clan Castles, Mining Sites, and Sept of the Seven:
- Can be attacked by NPC troops from other teams ( Only Clan Castle )
- Can be attacked if your Clan Castle is captured ( strongholds , mining sites and Sept of Sevens )
Universal Buildings
Now let’s talk about universal buildings.
These can be captured by anyone without special conditions (except waiting for protection bubbles to expire).
Altars
Altars are divided into several types:
Altar of the Father
This building increases player stats. The bonus is random — it can grant anything from infantry health to bowman defense
Altar of the Warrior
This building increases the Clan Castle stats. The bonus can affect NPC troops’ attack or NPC troops’ health, and it can be stacked depending on how many altars your team controls.

Altar of the Stranger
This building grants a random buff that affects how fast Clan Castle troops attack. In other words, it increases the speed at which troops gather and deploy to attack NPC buildings.

Altar of the Maiden
This building increases the points gained from all occupied buildings, boosting the number of points generated per minute.

Altar of the Smith
Increases gathering speed of Mine Shafts and Mining Sites.

Altar of the Crone
Increases troop stats when fighting inside your region (near your buildings).

Altars are powerful strategic multipliers.
Dragonpit
Adds a dragon to Clan Castle troops.
The dragon grants three random buffs.
Extremely strong in coordinated play.

Watch Towers
- Generate points when attacked.
- Automatically attack Mine Shafts.
- Cause 5% direct troop losses.
They can only be attacked by Clan Castle troops.
Useful only for Points , but not game-changing

Catapults
Similar to Watch Towers, but:
- They attack Glory City instead of Mine Shafts.
- Reduce Glory City troop count by 5%.
Very useful when preparing to capture Glory City.

Mine Shafts
buildings like Mining Site , but at everywhere in map
- 8 total on the map
- Each provides 4,000 points
- Total: 32,000 points
One of the best buildings to close the point gap.

Glory City
The best structure in the game.
If your team controls it:
- You gain 10% of every team’s total points continuously.
- It launches attacks on all Strongholds across the map.
- If NPCs capture them, you are allowed to attack every Stronghold on the map from the team of captured strongholds .

Whoever controls Glory City controls the map.
Priority Ranking
Based on impact and long-term value:
1 . Glory City
Reason: 10% of point of every team income and full map attack capability.
2 . Strongholds
Reason: Without them, your Clan Castle becomes weak and ineffective.
3 . Clan Castle
Reason: Main offensive building for attacking NPC buildings.
4 . Catapults
Reason: Essential buildingl to weaken Glory City before capture.
5 . Mining Sites, Mine Shafts & Sept of the Seven
Reason: Provide points and sustain advantages.
6 . Watch Towers
Reason: Provide points, but limited strategic impact.

Now that we understand the map and the buildings, let's talk about battle strategy.
This section will be divided into two main points:
- Which buildings you should prioritize at the start of the match depending on your focus
- How to choose buildings according to your strategic approach
And this leads to the most important question at the start of the game:
Which buildings should you prioritize — Trading Yards or Troop Camps?
At the beginning of the match, you must make the most important decision of the entire game.
Will your team focus on Trading Yards or Troop Camps?

The difference between these two choices defines the entire pace of your team.
Trading Yards – Point Generation Strategy
If you decide to focus on Trading Yards, your main objective is to maximize point generation.
With 14 Strongholds converted into max-level Trading Yards, you can generate:
1,400 points per minute for the Clan Castle.

This creates a constant scoring advantage throughout the match , as each troops camp generates 10 points per minutes , totalling a total of 140 of points per minute , This creates a constant scoring advantage throughout the match, since Troop Camps generate fewer points per minute, putting the enemy team at a scoring disadvantage.
What should you do if you choose Trading Yards?
If you follow this path, your strategy must stay consistent.
You should:
- Prioritize building and upgrading Trading Yards
- Capture Altar of the Maiden that increase Point Yield Boost (~20%)
- Focus on Mine Shafts
Your objective is simple:
Scale your point generation while avoiding unnecessary fights.
The Problem with This Strategy
However, there is a critical downside.
By prioritizing Trading Yards, you sacrifice buildings that provide NPC troops.
And this creates several consequences:
- You will not have strong enough troops to capture Catapults early
- When trying to capture or defend Glory City, you will lose around 5% of your troops due to enemy Catapults
- It will be much harder to maintain Glory City after capturing it , unless your team is very strong , but generally in a fair match , it won´t be possible .
- Your team will need to constantly reinforce
- You will not be able to capture enemy Clan Castles
In other words:
You gain strong point generation early, but you lose the opportunity to capture Watch Towers and Catapults, which grant +200 points per minute each , totalling 600 points per minutes.
This means you may struggle during the decisive moments of the game.
The Positive Side of Trading Yards Strategy
But there is a very important advantage.
If you fully commit to the economic path, there is a real possibility that you can outscore a team that controls Glory City.
Yes.
Even without capturing Glory City.
Why is this possible?
Let's think about it mathematically.
- 14 max-level Trading Yards → 1,400 points per minute - ( each match has a 60 minutes duration) = 84K of points
- Point Yield Boost (~20%) ( Altar of the Maiden )
- Mine Shafts
- Mining Sites
A minimum of 140,800 points.
All together, this creates a constant point generation machine.
Meanwhile, the team that controls Glory City depends on several factors:
- Maintaining control of the city
- Constantly reinforcing it
- Protecting their Catapults
- Avoiding coordinated enemy pressure
If they fail to defend properly, the 10% bonus from Glory City may not be enough to overcome your accumulated economic advantage.
Winning Through Points
This strategy works particularly well when:
- The enemy team is much stronger in combat
- They focus everything on Glory City
- They neglect Trading Yards and generate fewer points
By the end of the match, you may simply be:
Ranked #1 in total points
Even without controlling Glory City.
Direct Example
Team A
- Controls Glory City
- Gains 10% of every team's points
- Nobody can remove them from the Glory City
- But they focus heavily on battles and gain fewer points overall
Team B
- Fully focused on Trading Yards
- Generates constant points
- Lower risk strategy
If the match lasts long enough, Team B can win simply by having more total points.
Conclusion
Trading Yards represent a long-term strategy.
You give up full map control, but gain:
- Stability
- Consistent point generation
- A real chance to win through points generation
It is less dominant, but sometimes more efficient........
(PS : is the most lazy option . )
Troop Camps – Military Strategy
If you choose Troop Camps (Infantry, Spearmen, Cavalry, and Bowman Camps), , These buildings directly strengthen the troops sent by the Clan Castle.

This unlocks three key strategic options:
Attacking the Enemy Clan Castle
By strengthening your clan castle troops:
- You can pressure the enemy Clan Castle.
- You may capture it.
- You gain 20% of the enemy team's points.
This has a massive impact on the score, as it is an easy source of points, since most of your neighbors are NPCs, and NPCs are usually very easy to defeat.
Capturing the Clan Castle can completely change the pace of the match.
Attacking Watch Towers

Capturing a Watch Tower grants:
- 4,000 instant points
- 200 points per minute
Additionally, it stops the tower from causing 5% losses to your Mine Shafts.
It is a secondary control building, but still provides solid point generation.
Attacking Catapults

Capturing a Catapult also grants:
- 4,000 instant points
- 200 points per minute
But its real strategic value is different.
It prevents the Catapult from reducing 5% of the troops inside Glory City.
This is extremely important if your plan is to capture or defend Glory City.
Without enemy Catapults active, capturing Glory City becomes much easier.
Troop Camps Strategy Conclusion
By choosing Troop Camps, you gain:
- The ability to capture enemy Clan Castles
- Control over Watch Towers
- Control over Catapults
- A stronger chance to dominate Glory City
- Greater map control
You sacrifice your points generations
But you gain decisive military power.
And in coordinated matches, power often decides the game.
Which Altars Should Military Teams Prioritize?
If you chose Troop Camps, your focus shifts from passive points to combat control.
So the question becomes:
Which Altars should you prioritize?
Priority 1 – Altar of the Warrior
This is the most important altar for military strategies.
It increases Clan Castle troop stats, meaning:
- Stronger troops
- Better performance in battles
- Higher chances of winning fights for Catapults and Glory City

Priority 2 – Altar of the Father
This altar increases player stats.
It strengthens:
- Individual Attack Stats
- Individual Health Stats
- Individual Defense Stats

Priority 3 – Altar of the Crone
This altar grants bonuses when fighting near your own region.
It is excellent for:
- Defending newly captured Catapults
- Defending Glory City
- Protecting important Strongholds

Priority 4 – Altar of the Stranger
This altar grants a random buff that affects how frequently the Clan Castle launches attacks.
It can be strong.
But it can also be mediocre.
Because of this inconsistency, it should not be a primary priority.

Low Priority for Military Strategy
If you are focusing on Troop Camps, avoid prioritizing:
- Altar of the Maiden (point generation)
- Altar of the Smith (gathering speed)

They improve economy, but they do not help you dominate the map.
Your focus should always be:
More strength → More control → More pressure → Higher chance of capturing Glory City.
How to Counter the Trading Yard Strategy
If the enemy team chooses Trading Yard Strategy, their objective is simple:
Generate as many points as possible while avoiding early fights.
Your mission is to break their point generation .
Remove All Point Sources
Focus on eliminating anything that generates passive points:
- Altars that increase Point Yield (especially Maiden)
- Mine Shafts
- Mining Sites
- Watch Towers

Even if you cannot capture everything, denying these buildings already reduces their advantage.
Against Trading Yard Strategy , denial is more important than accumulation.
Gain Troop Camp Advantage
If possible, begin capturing Troop Camps.
Even if your start was balanced, you need to gain military superiority.
Why?
Because full Trading Yard teams have a structural weakness:
Weak combat power.
They will struggle to defend - ( NPCs buildings ) .
- Catapults
- Clan Castle
- Key objectives
Pressure the Enemy Clan Castle
This is the decisive moment.
If you capture their Clan Castle:
- You gain 20% of their points
- You interrupt their passive economy
- You destroy their scoring rhythm
This can be devastating for points generations strategies.............
Countering a Troop Camps Strategy
If the enemy chooses Troop Camps, it means they want to:
- Dominate militarily
- Control Catapults
- Fight for Glory City
- Pressure your Clan Castle
They are playing for map control.
So how do you react against a stronger military team?
The Simple Option
Ignore NPC buildings entirely.
Instead:
- Focus on Trading Yards
- Focus on Mine Shafts
- Focus on point-generation Altars
- Avoid direct fights
While they spend troops fighting for Catapults and Glory City, you turn the match into a point race.
But Be Careful
This only works if you:
- Defend your Clan Castle well
- Protect your key structures
- Prevent early snowball
If the military team captures:
- Your Clan Castle
- Your key Altars
- Glory City early
The advantage may become too large to overcome.
Advanced Option – Building Counter Strategy
This strategy only works if:
- Your team is very active
- Communication is fast
- Players can react in real time.
If the enemy Troop Camps are stronger than yours, direct fights may be difficult.
In that case, you can adapt your composition.
Counter Through Troop Types
Arena of Honor has a natural troop counter system.
If you notice the enemy is strong with:
- Infantry
- Cavalry
- Spearmen
You can:
- Delete an existing building
- Rebuild a Troop Camp that counters their troop type
This allows you to adapt your composition.
Why This Works?
If you are losing fights due to troop type advantages, the problem is composition, not levels.
By rebuilding counter Troop Camps you:
- Improve battle efficiency
- Reduce troop losses
- Increase chances of capturing buildings.
- Break the enemy's momentum
The Cost
This strategy has risks:
- You lose time rebuilding
- You may temporarily lose points
- Your NPC buildings become weaker during the transition
Because of this, it only works if your team is active and coordinated.
If half the team is offline, it is not worth the risk.
When Should You Use This Strategy?
Use it when:
- You are losing direct fights
- The enemy has a clear troop composition advantage
- There is still enough time left in the match
- You need to turn the game around
- The fight is fair, and every advantage matters.
It is a tactical adaptation play.
Final Conclusion
With everything explained, this guide covers the strategic fundamentals of Arena of Honor:
- Understanding the map
- Defining priorities
- Choosing a clear strategic focus
- Knowing when to adapt
Because in the end, Arena of Honor is not about building everything.
It is about choosing the right strategy — and executing it better than everyone else.
And remember:
The fight is fair.
And every advantage matters.
