Unlike traditional offensive skills that rely on chance or buildup, Energy Mastery gives you two things that no other skill (except Corrosive power) combines so directly:

• Instant Energy restoration (400 points after every ultimate).
• A 9-second window where ultimate damage is doubled.

This turns your backline main damage dealer from reactive supports into pure tempo engines. When used right, Energy Mastery doesn’t just add more damage, it changes how your entire team fights.

It rewards rhythm over randomness, timing over brute force.

Maël’s Opinion: Energy Mastery feels like the “answer” skill to Knife Through Butter. Where one disrupts energy, this one amplifies it. It’s the cleanest representation of Infinity Kingdom’s design duality control versus flow. If Knife slows the beat, Energy Mastery sets the tempo.

Energy Mastery is a Legendary passive skill exclusive to range and mage Immortals, built around one idea: accelerating the ultimate loop.

Here’s the exact behavior:

• Trigger: activates after casting an ultimate.
• Effect: instantly restores 400 Energy and grants a 9-second buff that increases Energy-skill damage by 100% at max level.
• Restriction: cannot be equipped with Psionic Tide.
• Buff behavior: the 9-second effect doesn’t stack; refreshing it resets the timer.

At a base rate of 100 Energy per second, a standard immortal reaches its ultimate every 10 seconds (1000 ÷ 100).

With Energy Mastery, the immortal regains 400 Energy instantly after casting, meaning it only needs to rebuild 600 Energy before the next ultimate, effectively cutting the loop to 6 seconds.

In short:

• Without Energy Mastery: ~10 seconds per ultimate.
• With Energy Mastery: ~6 seconds per ultimate, a 40% faster cycle, enabling significantly more frequent ultimate casts and sustained pressure.

Energy Mastery isn’t just a good skill, it’s a luxury one.

Because of its heavy Ability Stone cost, it makes sense to reserve it for Immortals with the most decisive ultimates in the game. The goal isn’t to spam small hits faster, it’s to make every ultimate devastating.

Top Candidates (Tier S – Absurd Damage)

• Apollo and Loki – Still the best candidates overall imo. Their AoE ultimate defines the meta, and with Energy Mastery, they can cast faster and double their burst during the 9-second window. The result is absurd DPS and tempo control.
• Baldween – Pure AoE damage that multiplies with the 100% ultimate damage boost. Excellent for wide-field pressure.

Tier A – Very Strong

• Himiko – Crowd control chains become lethal when paired with Energy Mastery. She turns disruption into elimination.
• Wu – Base energy is already very high. Her continuous burn cycles scale perfectly with back-to-back ultimates.

Tier B – Why Not?

• Genghis Khan – Damage can be decent with Corrosive Power and Energy Mastery plus, it allows Genghis Khan to keep putting pressure by wounding ennemies. 

This tiering isn’t about rarity or accessibility, it’s about raw impact. If your Immortal’s ultimate defines the battle, Energy Mastery amplifies it.

Maël’s Opinion: Energy Mastery isn’t for experimentation, it’s for specialization. In my view, the best return comes from anchoring it to Immortals whose ultimates already swing fights.

Energy Mastery doesn’t work in isolation, it thrives in setups that maximize uptime and damage within that 9-second window. To get the most from it, build your comp and secondary skills around energy flow and cast frequency.

• Infinite Firepower – The best companion skill. Each trigger accelerates Energy gain, compounding the refund from Energy Mastery. This creates near-looping ultimates for top mages.

• Corrosive Power – Perfect follow-up. After three ultimate hits, it adds more Energy Regen and ultimate damage, stacking multiplicatively with Energy Mastery’s buff. It turns the nine-second window into a constant burn phase.

• Battle Frenzy – For physical teams, it boosts attack every time an ultimate is cast. With Energy Mastery speeding up those cycles, Frenzy stacks climb far faster than normal. Apollo loves it. 
• Fighting Master – Grants control to immunity making sure your enery regen. is not interrupted.
• Rage Blessing – This secondary sources of energy regeneration keep rotations tight.

Maël’s Opinion: When every cast leads to the next, the fight becomes one continuous motion. I’d say Infinite Firepower + Energy Mastery + Corrosive Power is the cleanest synergy currently in the Tower of Knowledge. It’s efficient, consistent, and satisfying to watch in action. It implies you benefits from immunity to control with Fu Fei otherwise, I'd replace IF by Fighting Master.

6. Counters & Weaknesses – How to Contain Energy Mastery

Energy Mastery isn’t invincible. It’s powerful, yes but not unstoppable. A few effective counters exist to slow it down or disrupt its rhythm.

1. Energy Drain and Disruption

The best counter remains Knife Through Butter.

While Energy Mastery instantly restores 400 Energy, Knife Through Butter drains 300 Energy from every enemy at once. When KTB lands correctly, it interrupts the process of rebuilding energy.

Few other effects come close in consistency Knife Through Butter is the cleanest, most direct answer to Energy Mastery in the current meta.

2. Control Effects

Anything that interrupts attacks or ultimates also delays Energy Mastery’s loop. Silence, stuns, freezes, or confusion break the rhythm and waste the 9-second buff window before the next cast can trigger.

Well-timed crowd control doesn’t just stop a single ultimate, it dismantles the chain that makes Energy Mastery dangerous.

Maël’s Opinion: There aren’t many solid counters to this skill, but Knife Through Butter stands apart as the best one. Beyond that, silence and stuns are your best tools (if no control immunity which is rare for those battles with legendary skills).
