1. What Changed? – From Cosmetics to Power
For years, Castle Skins in Infinity Kingdom were mostly visual upgrades with minor stat boosts. Some were free. Others cost a few dollars. None had more than one level.

That changed in June 2025.
With the launch of Skyriver Palace and Abyssal Temple, developers introduced the first ever upgradable Castle Skins. Those two now have up to 10 upgrade levels, and their stats grow dramatically with each stage.

But here's the twist: to upgrade them, you need to re-acquire the same skin multiple times through the Treasure Hunter leaderboard.
2. How Upgradeable Castle Skins Work
- Unlock base skin through the $49.99 Celebration Pass

- Level 1 stats:
- +5% Physical/Magical ATK (Skyriver) or +5% Troop ATK (Abyssal)
- -3% Death Rate
- Upgrade to level 10 using Castle Skin Fragments
- Fragments only available through Daily Treasure Hunter Rankings
Here’s the catch:
- Only the top 10 players per day receive fragments
- Only 1st place gets enough to meaningfully upgrade over 10 days
Mael’s Opinion: The system turns cosmetic skins into a hard-spender meta item. It’s a cool idea, but also a major shift in accessibility.
3. Case Study #1: Skyriver Palace
🎉 Children’s Day Festival – June 2025
This event marked a major shift. For the first time in Infinity Kingdom, a Castle Skin wasn’t just cosmetic, it was upgradable.

Players could unlock the Skyriver Palace skin through the Celebration Pass. At level 1, it already offered a nice boost. But that was just the beginning.

To reach level 10, players needed to win the Treasure Hunter Daily Ranking multiple times. And by “win,” we mean rank 1st out of everyone, across all servers, each day.
No second chances. No alternate ways to collect fragments.
Just spend Crystals. Rank first. Repeat.

Visually, the skin looked stunning and matched the cheerful Children’s Day theme. Mechanically, it packed serious power—making it one of the most desirable (and exclusive) skins ever released.
But it also set a tone for future events: skins aren’t just about looks anymore. They're about advantage.
🔍 Recap:
- First upgradable Castle Skin introduced
- Available through Celebration Pass (level 1) + Treasure Hunter Rankings (levels 2–10)
- +15% Physical and Magical ATK, -6% Death Rate at max level
- Only 1st place in Daily Rankings earned enough copies to fully upgrade
Mael’s Opinion: This was the test run. Visually fitting, mechanically strong but also the start of a heavy monetization layer. Great for whales, painful for others.
4. Case Study #2: Abyssal Temple
🔥 Midsummer Festival – July 2025
The second upgradable skin dropped just a month after the first. This time, Infinity Kingdom kept the formula and added a few tweaks.
Abyssal Temple was the centerpiece of the Midsummer Festival. Like Skyriver Palace, it started at level 1 through the Celebration Pass, and could be leveled up to 10 by collecting duplicates through Treasure Hunter rankings.

Visually, this skin was a big shift: dark, mysterious, and ominous.
Let’s be honest it’s giving Poseidon chaos cult vibes.
If you’re Team Ares or flying the Anubis flag, you probably rolled your eyes.
Let the whale wars begin.
Beyond looks, Troop ATK made this skin more versatile than Skyriver. It benefits both magical and physical comps, making it one of the most universally impactful skins released.

They also expanded the ranking rewards. This time:
- 1st place still got a full skin copy
- But 2nd–10th place received fragments
- More inclusive? Sure.
- More affordable? Not really.

If you weren’t in the Top 3 nearly every day, you weren’t getting close to level 10. Period.
🔍 Recap:
- Second upgradable Castle Skin
- Celebration Pass unlocks level 1
- +15% Troop ATK, -6% Death Rate at max level
- Fragment distribution in Treasure Hunter:
- Rank 1: full copy
- Rank 2: 36 fragments
- Rank 3: 24 fragments
- Ranks 4–10: 12 fragments
Maël’s Opinion:This was an improvement. Troop ATK applies across the board, and expanded ranking rewards help… a little. But unless you’re Top 3 almost every day, you’ll still fall short. And let’s be real if you’re a Poseidon main, this skin basically has your name on it.
5. What’s the Real Cost to Max a Skin?
Let’s be honest: maxing one of these skins is practically a financial event.
We’re not talking about $100 here and there, we’re talking $40,000+, and that’s if you win every single daily Treasure Hunter over 10 days. No one has actually done it. Not during the Children’s Day Festival. Not during the Midsummer Festival.
Even among top whales, we haven’t seen a player dominate all 10 days to fully max Skyriver Palace or Abyssal Temple. The cost is just too high, even for spenders with deep pockets. Instead, we’re seeing something else:
A slow race.

Players are collecting progress. Some won a few rankings. Some didn’t. But everyone’s waiting to see what comes next.
And that raises big questions:
- When will Skyriver Palace or Abyssal Temple return?
- Will future events offer duplicate copies again?
- How many new upgradable skins will be introduced this year?
We’re likely entering a rotation system, where skins cycle back into events, and players who already own level 1 can buy the Celebration Pass again to push them to level 2 or 3. And here’s the part that matters for mid-spenders: Even getting to level 2 is a big deal.

For example:
- Skyriver Palace goes from +5% ATK to +7% or more
- Abyssal Temple boosts your overall Troop ATK noticeably
- That’s a meaningful edge in competitive PvP even without going all the way to level 10.
So while the whale race is wild, mid-spenders may still find value by playing the long game.
🔍 Recap:
- No player has maxed a Castle Skin to level 10 (yet)
- Cost remains ~$40,049.99 minimum if going for 10 straight days at Rank 1
- Realistically, most players are progressing over multiple events
- Future events will likely reintroduce old skins for upgrades
- Even level 2 gives a solid stat boost (+7–8% ATK vs +5%)
- Rotation system = new race, new opportunities, new spending waves
Maël’s Opinion: We haven’t seen a fully maxed Castle Skin, yet. And that’s kind of exciting. It means this is no longer a sprint, it’s a new kind of endgame. Mid-spenders can ride the wave by stacking Celebration Passes, and whales? Well… their showdown is just getting started.
6. Comparison – Value vs Other Castle Skins
Castle Skins have evolved a lot since the early days of Infinity Kingdom. They’ve always been part of the game’s identity both as a visual flex and a functional tool. Here’s how they’ve developed over time.
At the very beginning, skins were purely decorative. No buffs. Just style.

Then came the Contention of Relics skin the first one many of us unlocked. Let’s be honest, we were proud. It was a real milestone.

Later, we saw Throne of the Supreme skins, Elemental skins from the Golden Shop, and other thematic additions.
Most of these “classic” skins didn’t offer PvP boosts. Instead, they gave bonuses like:
- Resource collection speed
- Technology research time
- Soldier training speed
- Honor buffs
Then things changed.
More recent skins introduced HP buffs meaning when equipped, your Immortals actually get more Health Points. That’s a direct PvP edge: More HP = longer survival = more damage dealt over time.

And now? We’ve entered the era of upgradable skins with attack boosts and Death Rate reduction, pushing their impact far beyond aesthetics.
Mael’s Opinion: Recent Celebration Skins offer much better stats, no question. Surprisingly, the initial unlock is cheaper than some older skins that used to cost $200–$300. Now, for $49.99, the Battle Pass gives you access to a skin that’s also upgradeable. That’s great value. But the real monetization kicks in later, for whales who want to dominate by upgrading. If these skins become more common in the top ranks, we could see a real shift in long-term PvP dynamics.
7. Are They Worth It?
Depends on who you are.
🟢 Free-to-Play: Pass.
🟡 Light Spenders: Get level 1 through the Pass. That’s already solid.
🔴 Whales: Go wild. This is tailor-made for you.
Mael’s Opinion: If you’re playing the long game, a level 1 Castle Skin still gives great value. But chasing level 10 is only worth it if you're all-in and already maxed everywhere else.
8. Would You Chase the Flex?
The new upgradable Castle Skins change everything.
Sure, unlocking them through the Battle Pass feels affordable even tempting for mid-spenders.
But the real cost kicks in when you start chasing levels.
Have you tried upgrading one yet?
Did you stop at level 1, or are you aiming higher?
These skins bring new power and long-term progression. But they also create serious pressure and a growing gap between casual players and whales.
The system is smart. The pricing? Not exactly welcoming.
Still, for the top 1%, it’s more than just a stat boost.
It’s a badge of dominance. A prestige flex.
Is this the kind of system you enjoy, or one that burns you out?
Drop a comment below, I’d love to hear where you stand.
Upgrade systems add progression and pressure. These skins are beautiful and strong, but also drive a huge wedge between spender tiers. The mechanic is clever. The execution? Not exactly player-friendly. That said, for the top 1%, it’s a prestige flex worth every cent.
