💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? With Patch 2.8.3, Sparks of Galaxy returns with a revamped prize pool. Let’s take a closer look at the event, its past iterations, and what the new update entails. The change in the rewards also affected the value of the event, so we’ll also compare the difference and what type of player this change benefits.

💠Differences
Sparks of Galaxy has 12 slots of rewards. Prior to the patch, two slots had one Dragon Essence, two slots had a set of five Holy or Shadow Dragon Crystals, four slots contained one Exclusive Artifact Schematic Fragment, three slots had a set of two immortal fragments, and one slot had a set of 30 immortal fragments. The new version of the event placed every immortal into a selection chest, and the Dragon Crystals are also within their own selection chest, so players don’t have to spend gems refreshing until they land on the immortal they want. In the 12 slots, two still contain one Dragon Essence, two slots now have an Eternal Dragon Soul Chest, which contains ten Holy or Shadow Dragon Crystals, the four slots for Exclusive Artifact Fragments are swapped with four slots of five Shadow and Light Exclusive Artifact Selection Chests, and finally all four slots of immortal fragments are replaced with four slots of ten Shadow and Light Selection Chests.

💠Differences in Practice
Players can spend 1,000 Gems to purchase five Frosty Orbs, up to 20 times a day and three times a week. You can also purchase 5, 10, 18, 24, and 32 Frosty Orbs for $0.99, $1.99, $4.99, $9.99, and $14.99. There are also $29.99 and $49.99 bundles, but the value in those drops significantly. The first five bundles average to about $0.37 per orb, with the first several bundles having the most value. In 1,000 attempts, I pulled 557 Eternal Dragon Soul Chests, 510 Shadow and Light Selection Chests, and 940 Shadow and Light Artifact Schematic Fragment Selection Chests. That comes out to be 5,570 Dragon Crystals, 510 Immortal Fragments, and 940 Exclusive Artifact Fragments for about 200,000 Gems or about $368 in bundles. In the previous iteration, with the same number of Frosty Orbs, I received 2,400 Dragon Crystals, 746 Immortal Fragments, and 169 Exclusive Artifact Fragments. In summary, the new version of Sparks of Galaxy yielded me over two times more Dragon Crystals, fewer Immortal Fragments, and nearly six times more artifact fragments. Essentially, you’re sacrificing some Immortal Fragments for significantly more Dragon Crystals and Artifact Fragments.

💠Comparative Value
The question remains whether it is worth it for players to start or continue playing Sparks of Galaxy. Well, that depends on what you are looking for. For Dragon Crystals, the best and cheapest alternatives are the weekly Dragon Knight bundles that are priced at about $0.08 per Dragon Crystal. In the new Sparks of Galaxy, Dragon Crystals are worth about $0.07 or 36 Gems each. That cost goes down if you only purchase the first couple of Frosty Orb bundles. If you are looking for Exclusive Artifact Fragments, there’s no question that the new version is better. The pool contains five times as many fragments as it used to. As for Immortal Fragments, unfortunately, there are not many good alternatives. There are Theia’s Roulette and Legion of Frostborne chests, but neither of those is cheaper. Additionally, in some batches of 100 Frosty Orbs in the previous iteration, I had gotten fewer than 30 Immortal Fragments, while in other batches, I pulled over 100 Immortal Fragments. The new iteration will decrease the variance significantly and make your draws more consistent, even with a low number of attempts.

💠Summary
In conclusion, the number of Holy and Shadow Crystals has doubled, the number of Exclusive Artifact Fragments has quintupled, but the number of Immortal Fragments has decreased by about 30%. However, the patch eliminated the super low lows and the super high highs of drawing Immortal Fragments, so you will see less variance between each batch of draws. Is the new Sparks of Galaxy worth it? Absolutely.
