"Aftermath of Camelot" [Part 28] Wukong's Path - An Infinity Kingdom Story

🔷 Introduction

Welcome to part 28 of my Wukong series. We are following three famous fire immortals and their ally Wukong, who is currently training in the arts of fire. They have had a tough journey as of late, and their adventure is only going to get harder.

After the battle, Wukong and his allies realized the attack on Camelot was no coincidence and decided to strike first before another assault could come. Tracking the lingering magic from the golem, they discovered Arthur and Morgana planning an even greater threat, forcing them to decide their next move before the real war began.

🔷 Part 28: “Aftermath of Camelot”

The ruins of the ancient temple were silent now, save for the gentle whisper of the wind carrying away the last remnants of Morgana and Arthur. The battle had been swift and decisive. Whatever dark magic had fueled them was no match for the combined strength of Wukong, Wu, Hippolyta, and Seondeok. Now, only ashes remained where the last of the Pendragons had stood, their tyranny over Camelot reduced to dust.

Wukong rested his staff against his shoulder, surveying the remains. "Well, that settles that," he said, his golden eyes flickering in the moonlight. "No more golems, no more secret plots. Camelot is free."

Hippolyta exhaled, sheathing her sword. "Free, yes. But for how long? If we leave now, another tyrant could rise in their place. We’ve fought too hard to let history repeat itself."

Seondeok nodded. "She’s right. A single ruler, no matter how noble their intentions, is too dangerous. We need to establish a system where power is shared—where the people of Camelot have a voice."

Wu crossed her arms, considering. "A council, then. A governing body is made up of those who understand leadership and justice, and who can hold each other accountable. No more kings or queens—just a government that serves its people."

It was decided. The four warriors returned to Camelot, where the people—free from Pendragon's rule—looked to them for guidance. They did not claim the throne; instead, they dismantled it. With the castle no longer a symbol of oppression, they transformed it into a hall of governance, where decisions would be made not by one ruler but by many.

The new governing body consisted of representatives from different parts of Camelot—the knights, the scholars, the merchants, and the common folk. Each would have a seat in the council, ensuring that no single voice could dominate. Laws were drafted to prevent corruption, and a rotating leadership was instated to keep power from settling into the hands of the few. With these changes, Camelot became a land not of kings and queens but of its people.

When the work was done and Camelot stood on its own, Wukong stretched and grinned. "I don’t know about you all, but I didn’t sign up to be a politician. I think it’s time we hit the road again."

Wu smirked. "Agreed. Our work here is done. Camelot will thrive without us."

Hippolyta adjusted her armor, her gaze set on the horizon. "And there are more lands in need of warriors like us. We should see what else the world has in store."

Seondeok gave one last glance at the city they had fought to free, then nodded. "Then let’s not waste time. The road calls."

With that, the four warriors gathered their belongings and set off from Camelot, leaving behind the city they had saved and reformed. The people would tell stories of their deeds, but they would not linger to bask in glory. Their journey was far from over.

As they disappeared into the misty morning, the sun rose over Camelot—a new dawn for a kingdom finally free from tyranny. And somewhere, in lands yet unknown, new adventures awaited them.

This is the start of a new chapter for our heroes they have endless options again and now they will seek out their path.  They must find a way to keep pushing themselves to grow both as individuals and together.
