More benefits, more surprises
I received a message from a top chronicler who met with developers and sales reps from GTArcade and the issue of bowmen player complaints was addressed. The conclusion was that bows will never be improved. Because of this, I will be leaving the game in a few months because I can not afford to switch all of my dragon skills, raise them to level 9, badges-and raise them to ancient, refinement, lord gear and elevate them to ancient, etc...to other troop types. Below are just the highlights from the "insider" as to why bows will never be improved.
"If bows were the the old "meta", the big spenders would have no need to invest in other commanders, or dragon skills that complement weakness, bleed and synergy builds. They would simply stick to the five needed for an attack regiment in a bowmen line up. When bows are limited, this forces the player to invest in stronger troop types. The problem with that is the counter system. You can invest in, say, infantry, but then you will have problems encountering cavalry. So the goal is to cause moderate to big spenders to invest in all 3 troop types, which in turn means you must invest in at least 15 commanders (5 for each troop type, and of course, less than 15 if you have the "all" commanders [total attack, total defense, total health: Danaerys, Cersei, Night King, etc...]) instead of 5 commanders for a bowmen set up. This means that GTarcade earns 75% more in product sales because the best competitors will invest in bolstering all three troop types (even though they may have at least one strongest type).
Even a 2 troop investment yields more sales than bowmen. For example, a player may invest in infantry, but knows they can be countered by cavalry, so the player will invest in spearmen as a siege defense. This is still an investment that will yield twice the amount of sales as bowmen. So needless to say, bowmen will not see any improvements any time soon. Hope that helps".
Bowmen are no longer being welcomed into large groups with some even advertising in recruitment "no bows". Bows are often not welcomed in Arena of Honor making it hard for players to participate. Bow damage is reduced in Siege of Winterfell and All Out War. There are no "war" badges in the Token Shop for bows meaning that, with all ancient badges, bows are limited to 200% badge attack while the other three troop types have a 200% additional attack advantage over bows (with "infantry/cavalry/spear war badges" at ancient level). There is also the issue of the only dragon skill advertised to work with Kravras (Dragon Flame) that has NEVER worked in spite of the fact that his skill at 4 stars with his weapon triggers twice as much as Sinara and even at a 40% chance never triggers).
Bottom line, if you are a bowmen player that invested a lot of money in your account before the "nerfing", you are in a permanent conundrum, and it's probably a good idea to either quit the game, or stop spending on anything else. The argument "but bows have no counter" is a worthless argument when the other three troop types have a 600% attack, health and defense advantage (meaning bows max out at an average of 2100 attack, whereas the other troop types max out an average of 2600-2700) in addition to the synergy/bleed/weakness dynamics that only work best with infantry/cav/spear. Not even the popular "female synergy" for bows can make them a competitive set up anymore.
This game has become a job, and it's miserable to keep coming to the same job every day with a set of dulled tools that makes you work harder than the rest of your colleagues. So in a few months I will open my packs and give my resources and troops for merit (to be announced when and where).
