💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the week eight match between Server 193’s Kinkiest of Fates(KoF) and Server 283’s Barks & Bites(BB). BB’s positions in this match will be denoted in yellow while KoF’s will be in red.

💠Overview
KoF has been on a tear lately, entering the match with a 5-1 record and losing only to Server 73’s PRD. KoF has always been a middle-of-the-pack team that can handily beat bottom-tier teams but has difficulty surpassing top-tier teams. They have experienced players from Server 93 and 142 and have a pedigree of beating younger servers. BB was 4-1 going into the match, having lost one of their matches to Server 73’s best IBL team, CUBS, in the previous week. They decisively defeated teams and regularly have high attendance. KoF should be the favorite to win the match just based on the difference in IBL experience.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
BB
- Started with 23 players and ended with 31
- 11 Attack talents
- 9 Defense talents
- 4 Support talents
KoF
- Started with 26 players and ended with 35
- 10 Attack talents
- 14 Defense talents
- 2 Support talents
💠Tower 1
KoF sent 8 players to Tower 1 with 1 overlap while BB sent 8 with no overlaps. Both teams had less-than-ideal formations, but KoF’s players were more compact and closer to each other while BB was more spread out. Both teams had 2 players adjacent to the tower too. KoF should have the edge with quicker rallies and they would have an easier time picking off stragglers who do not have teammates next to them to help garrison. BB has too many gaps in its formation and could benefit from using markers.
💠Tower 4
KoF sent 7 players to Tower 4 and BB only sent 3. BB had 4 edge spawns that they could have used to block multiple enemy relocations, but they decided to move half a unit away from the tower. Instead of sending 4 players to the Moon Altar, they should have overloaded Tower 4, given their positional advantage. Younger servers aren’t always aware that the top-sided team is several units closer to Tower 4 so they would reach the tower earlier given the same spawn positions.

💠Central Tower
KoF sent 9 players to the Central Tower and BB relocated 3. KoF understands that the Central Tower is the most important tower on the map so they decided to commit most of their team there, but their formation needs work. Too many players are too far away from the tower. If BB was going to send only 3 players to the center, they should have just forgone the middle and controlled the two side towers. Both teams could use more practice with their relocations around the tower.
💠Altars
KoF left the Sun Altar open. BB sent 4 players to the Moon Altar.
💠Home Towers
Both teams had 4 guards are their respective home towers. KoF’s decision was fine since BB moved 4 players to the altar who could theoretically invade. BB’s decision to station so many players at the tower was highly questionable. They needed numbers and those players could have served a better purpose elsewhere.
💠Play-By-Play
At Tower 1, several members of BB completed their relocations earlier than KoF and had opportunities to destroy relocations, but they only sent 2 marches instead of 3 which isn’t enough to destroy a relocation. The teams traded rallies back and forth, but both had extremely poor focus. They switched targets too often and didn’t focus on zeroing players. The damage was spread across too many targets. At 7 minutes, KoF decided to go for the tower when several latecomers showed up. BB barely made an attempt to stop them and KoF successfully captured the tower a minute later. KoF started zeroing more players and BB kept sending reinforcements. KoF players who were in the back rows should have moved up to surround the tower, but they kept letting BB relocate next to the tower.
At Tower 4, KoF immediately sieged the tower when they landed since BB only had 3 players in the vicinity, none of whom were adjacent to the tower. They easily captured it as BB could only watch from far away. KoF easily zeroed the enemies there shortly after. BB kept sending more players to the tower, but they could only relocate further and further away. KoF never let them get much closer for the rest of the match. BB should have started relocating away from Tower 4 and went to reinforce the center and Tower 1 instead.
In the center, BB had ample opportunities to destroy a relocation on their side of the tower, but they were too slow. Fortunately, even had they been able to do so, KoF still outnumbered BB. They made short work of the enemies and by 8 minutes, KoF had already surrounded the tower and erased all of the opponents. They captured the tower at 13 minutes without any resistance.
Meanwhile, BB never let up the attack on Tower 1. More and more of their forces just kept arriving and they were making a big push on both of the side towers. They captured both altars to conceal themselves. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, KoF easily teleported and relocated to Tower 1 and stopped any advancements. By 30 minutes, KoF amassed an insurmountable 45,000-point lead. BB didn’t have enough time for a comeback and KoF cruised to another win.
💠Summary
KoF’s Kye was the match MVP as they won the match with 100,000 points to BB’s 25,600. KoF needs to relocate better in the center and focus on 1 or 2 targets at a time with their rallies. Spreading their damage across so many targets doesn’t provide enough control. BB, on the other hand, needs better planning. They should have given up a tower to overload the other towers. They also need to realize when their towers are lost so they can make a quick rotation elsewhere. Placing 4 members at an altar in the beginning is often a mistake, especially in the playoffs, because good teams know how to respond appropriately and the early minutes are the most important. Placing 4 members at their home tower with little threat of an invasion was also a mistake. BB needs to shore up all aspects of their gameplay if they want to have a chance against better teams in the playoffs.
