Introduction.

Flavius Belisarius, the Mediterranean Conqueror, is a standout Elite Immortal in Infinity Kingdom. Known for his unparalleled strategic mind and his skill Shadow Strike, Belisarius disrupts the battlefield by converting healing into damage—a power that reflects the complexity of his historical legacy. Let’s explore his life, his role in the game, and why he embodies the Shadow element.

Who was Flavius Belisarius?

Flavius Belisarius (c. 500–565 AD) was one of the greatest generals of the Byzantine Empire and served under Emperor Justinian I. He is best known for his campaigns to reclaim the territories of the Western Roman Empire, including North Africa, Italy, and parts of Spain. His military genius and loyalty to Justinian earned him the title The Last Roman General.

Military Achievements

  • Victory in North Africa: Belisarius defeated the Vandals in just two major battles, reclaiming Carthage and re-establishing Roman authority in the region.
  • The Gothic War: His campaigns in Italy led to the capture of Rome and temporarily restored Roman control over the peninsula.
  • Defense of Constantinople: During the Nika riots, Belisarius played a critical role in protecting the capital by quelling the uprising with a decisive and brutal military response.

Despite these successes, Belisarius’s career was marked by political intrigue. Some accounts suggest that Justinian, fearing Belisarius’s growing popularity, accused him of conspiracy, leading to his temporary imprisonment and rumored blinding. Though later restored to favor, Belisarius’s life was a blend of triumph and betrayal.

Etymology and Connection to the Shadow Element

The name "Belisarius" likely derives from Greek, with interpretations such as "White Prince" or "Archer of War." However, his association with the Shadow element in Infinity Kingdom is tied more to his life’s darker moments.

Why the Shadow Element?

  1. Triumphs and Betrayals: Belisarius’s life was one of great victories overshadowed by mistrust and political betrayal. This duality mirrors the Shadow element’s theme of complexity and hidden power.
  2. Turning Healing into Damage: The Gloom Remedy effect of Shadow Strike could symbolize the consequences of misplaced trust or alliances turning against one’s own side, much like the intrigues Belisarius faced.
  3. A Strategic Disruptor: On the battlefield, Belisarius used unorthodox tactics to outmaneuver his enemies, embodying the cunning and disruptive nature of the Shadow element.

Skill Breakdown: Shadow Strike

Belisarius’s skill, Shadow Strike, is as strategic as the general himself. It deals physical damage to a target row and has a 50% chance to apply Gloom Remedy, converting healing effects into damage for 10 seconds. This effect is particularly useful against teams reliant on sustain.

  • Damage Rate: Starts at 93% and scales to 310% at max level.
  • Unique Effect: Disrupts healing-based strategies, making him a key counter against sustain-heavy compositions.

Belisarius’s skill reflects his historical role as a disruptor on the battlefield, where he often turned the strengths of his enemies into weaknesses.

Ideal Skills and Team Composition

To maximize your use of Flavius, you obviously want two things: make him last longer in battle and allow him to rapidly and frequently cast his ultimate skill without being controlled. For this, I’d recommend focusing on defensive skills and energy regeneration tactics.

Key Skills

  • Adrenaline Rush: Boosts energy regeneration, ensuring Belisarius can frequently use Shadow Strike. "Every normal attack has a 50% chance of gaining 150 extra energy.
  • Wind Rage: Every normal attack will have a 55% chance to immidetely trigger another normal attack - a very good combo with adrenaline rush.
  • Fighting Master: Grants immunity to control effects, keeping him active in crucial moments.
  • Physical Shield: Reduce incoming physical damages.

Team Composition

I like Flavius most in burst damage teams like Fire or Shadow. Burst damage allows you to quickly hurt the opponent, while Belisarius further amplifies this burst by preventing them from healing—more precisely, by turning heals into damage to finish them off swiftly.

You can also tactically use him in any team to counter healing and sustain-based opponents. His unique ability to convert healing into damage makes him a powerful disruptor in such matchups.

In this setup, Flavius is part of a Fire Burst strategy, and his ability translates into significant damage against Anubis. In the Damage Taken section for Anubis, we see he received 7.7M damage from Fu Fei and 3.6M damage from Nine Tails. This not only disrupted 11.3M healing, but it also dealt 11.3M damage to Anubis.

This demonstrates just how powerful this strategy can be, especially when rallying against Holy or Chaos teams. To maximize its impact, ensure the Flavius team leads the rally, paving the way for subsequent teams to finish the job.

Explore synergies and make your choice wisely—his tactical and strategic brilliance comes at a cost of risk. As an elite Immortal, Flavius can only equip two skills, adding an extra layer of strategy to his use.
Belisarius is positioned as the frontline tank in teams focused on control and disruption.

Counters and Weaknesses

There is currently NO immortals or skills that directly counter Flavius Ability.

While Belisarius excels in countering healing and sustain-based opponents, his usage is less pertinent if your opponent is not heavily relying on these mechanics.

If your opponent does rely on heals and sustain, effective counters include skills or mechanics that reduce attack speed, decrease energy regeneration, or, more particularly, utilize control-focused setups to disrupt his ability to execute his strategy.

How to Obtain Flavius Belisarius

Flavius is available in the Daily Shop for initial unlocking and, once unlocked, can be purchased in the Market for gems. The cost to unlock Flavius through the Daily Pearl Shop is $12.00, requiring 2 days of purchases (at $6 per day for 20 pearls).

680fragments×50gems/fragment=34,000gems.

His accessibility makes him an appealing choice for players looking to enhance their Shadow-element or Fire teams, as well as any tactical lineup facing healing-based opponents.

Mael’s Opinion

Flavius Belisarius was a fascinating addition to Infinity Kingdom. He is without any doubt the best elite immortal, and his strategic usage surpasses a lot of epic immortal. His ability to convert healing into damage introduces a unique mechanic that adds depth to team strategy, especially against sustain-heavy compositions—a staple of past, current, and likely future metas. With Flavius by your side, you can confidently hold your ground against even the strongest whales, turning their sustain and healing against them.
As a history enthusiast, I appreciate how his in-game abilities reflect his real-life story. The Shadow Strike skill embodies both his tactical brilliance and the betrayal he endured, making him one of the most thematically fitting Immortals in the Shadow element.
For players looking to dominate PvP or adapt to chaotic battles, Flavius is an excellent choice. I highly recommend investing in him and exploring the strategic possibilities he offers.

Conclusion

Flavius Belisarius combines historical depth with innovative gameplay mechanics, making him a standout Immortal in Infinity Kingdom. His life as a brilliant yet overshadowed general perfectly aligns with the Shadow element, while his Shadow Strike skill offers efficient ways to counter sustain-heavy teams. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or a competitive player, Flavius is an Immortal worth having in your lineup.
