Wu Fire Empress: Wu Earth vs the Time Rift

Season's Greetings to everyone! As the year comes to a close, it's a great time to reflect on 2024. One of my reflections has been about how Wu Zetian could fit into an Earth march. 

With the Time Rift Breaker event approaching and the Spider Amplify buff in play, I began to think about ways to maximize my points. This type of Spider’s special attributes enhances specific elements: Earth, Fire, and Water. Since my Water march isn’t particularly strong, I decided to turn my attention to Earth instead.

I wondered if adding a Magic Damage dealer like Wu could improve my Earth march performance and help battles last longer. While Himiko is a solid choice for Earth, I wanted to explore an F2P-friendly workaround to see if I could achieve similar results. 

Wu Zetian, the powerful Fire-element Magic immortal, is no stranger to high-damage gameplay, but recent updates and evolving strategies have made her even more versatile. In this article, we’ll dive into why Wu Zetian has become a standout choice for PvE events like the Spider event, Time Rift, and Infernal Assault. Whether you’re aiming to optimize your march for these challenges or curious about how her skills work alongside other immortals, let’s explore the results of my experiments!

Wu Zetian's Mechanism and Ultimate Skill

Wu Zetian’s Rain of Fire is a powerhouse AoE (Area of Effect) skill, dishing out sustained Magic damage to all enemies over time. Its real strength lies in weakening multiple targets at once, making it a go-to choice for PvE events like Time Rift and Infernal Assault, where waves of enemies keep coming.

Wu Zetian's Crit Rate and Its Significance  

- Critical Rate increases the chance of Wu's attacks dealing extra damage, amplifying the potency of her Giant Fireball. 

- This mechanic makes her particularly deadly in PvE scenarios like Time Rift, where sustained crit damage can decimate multiple waves of enemies. 

- High crit builds also make her viable in PvP, as sudden bursts of damage can turn the tide of battle.

Synergy: Wu, Zenobia Charles, and Alexander 

Pairing Wu Zetian with Charles the Great and Alexander the Great creates a powerful combination of damage output and durability. Charles provides shielding for your team, protecting squishy damage dealers like Wu, while Alexander delivers high single-target physical damage to complement Wu's AoE magic damage. 

Testing the theory that Wu will synergise in Earth march, in events like the Spider or Time Rift breaker

With Charles and Alexander 

- Charles' ultimate skill keeps enemies in check with his tanking capabilities, ensuring Wu survives in the backline. His shielding mitigates the damage from tough boss attacks.

- Alexander adds heavy physical damage, complementing Wu's AoE magic for a balanced offence. Alexander's burst damage finishes off high-priority targets like bosses. 

With Zenobia 

- Zenobia's healing and support extend Wu's survivability, ensuring she can unleash multiple Giant Fireballs during a match. 

With Earth Dragon  

- Earth Dragon's Earthshake and Earth Roar prolong battles, giving Wu time to repeatedly activate her ultimate skill for maximum damage output. 

How can you optimize your march to ensure both survivability and maximum damage output in PvE events? 

Exclusive Artifact (EA) and Attributes

Wu Zetian's Exclusive Artifact is a game-changer for her performance. The artifact enhances her Magic Attack and boosts the effectiveness of her ultimate skill, making her an even more potent damage dealer. 

When selecting attributes for Wu's EA, below are suggestions for areas to focus on:-

- Magic Attack: Increases the damage dealt by Rain of Fire. 

- Crit Rate and Crit Damage: Amplifies her ability to land massive critical hits on enemies. 

- Energy Regeneration: Helps Wu charge her ultimate faster, ensuring more frequent skill activations. 

Is Wu Zetian equipped with the best EA attributes to dominate PvE events? 

Practical Applications in PvE Events 

1.Spider Event

Wu's AoE makes her invaluable for clearing out waves of spiderlings, while Charles protects her from damage. Alexander's single-target strikes handle the main spider boss efficiently. 

2. Time Rift

  The combination of Wu's ultimate skill and EA makes her a must-have for high-damage teams tackling Time Rift stages. Her sustained AoE clears waves quickly, helping you earn high rewards. 

3. Infernal Assault

  With its constant waves of enemies, Infernal Assault is a perfect showcase for Wu's Rain of Fire. Pairing her with Charles and Alexander ensures survivability and maximum damage output.

Earth Dragon Synergy

Dragon Skills  

 - Earth Roar: Increases Physical Attack and reduces enemy Physical Defense, benefiting Alexander and Charles while indirectly aiding Wu by weakening enemy defences. 

- Sandstorm Breath: Reduces enemy Healing and Magic Defense, amplifying Wu's Rain of Fire damage output. 

- Earthshake: Stuns enemies in a small area, controlling the battlefield and giving Wu more time to unleash her AoE damage. 

2. Dragon Talents 

Focus on Attack Aura to boost the damage output of both Physical (Alexander, Charles) and Magic (Wu). 

Resilience Aura and Durability Aura improve team survivability, which is crucial for longer PvE encounters. 

3. How the Earth Dragon Supports Wu 

  The Earth Dragon's Sandstorm Breath is particularly valuable for Wu, as it reduces enemy Magic Defense, allowing Wu's magic damage to hit harder. Additionally, the stuns from Earthshake disrupt enemy attacks, giving Wu's ultimate skill more time to deal its full damage. 

Why Wu and the Earth Dragon Work Together

Compatibility: Wu benefits from the Earth Dragon's utility, even though she doesn't directly gain from its Physical Attack boosts. The dragon's debuffing abilities indirectly enhance Wu's output by weakening enemies. 

Synergy: The balance between physical damage (Charles, Alexander) and magic damage (Wu) ensures that the team can tackle any type of enemy effectively. 

Conclusion

The green arrows highlight the battles with Wu/Earth and Fire/Khan is represented by the blue arrows. On the surface my experiment does not look to have worked, but not all varibles were the same. Immortal boosts, EAs, skill levels, Equipment and Stone Inlay levels etc, will all have contributed to making it a fair representation. What it does show is my Wu/Earth doubled its Dmg and ensured i gained 1500 points. It is vital to get all the chests to gain those coins.

Didn’t manage to increase the duration of the battle, but did improve my Dmg output. There are still areas to improve on, mainly improving the Dragon talent tree, upgrading the immortals and maybe changing the skill formation. This will keep me busy, if I wish to move up the rankings.

Improved Alex overall Dmg output by 1.5mil, and the accuracy of Normal hits is improved. There is roughly an even split between Phys and Mag Dmg and in the number of attempts each takes. More often than not Alex found his target, though he could do with doging. His Dmg intake is horredous, similar to Wu, over 20mil.

Here we see Wu is firing on all cylinders, her Magical Dmg (Crit Hit) is high =83% were 1 hit = 1.4 mil dmg, all her critical hits found there target. Her approx dmg is 9.4mil. Area to work on his her Critical hits, try for 100% accuracy rating.

Alex and Wu go head to head for Dmg dealt, the accuracy rate 66% is above avg and Dmg per hit is low = 250k

Wu Zetian has proven herself to be a versatile immortal capable of slotting into a variety of PvE teams. Her Ultimate skill, when paired with a synergised march, like Charles, and Alexander the Great, could work in events like Spider, Time Rift, and Infernal Assault. The addition of, her Exclusive Artifact further enhances her utility, making her an investment worth considering for PvE players. 

Pros: 

- Exceptional AoE damage for clearing waves. 

- Synergizes well with defensive and high-damage immortals. 

- Her EA boosts her effectiveness significantly. 

Cons: 

- Relies heavily on energy regeneration for frequent ultimate activations. 

   Vulnerable without proper defensive support. 

Versatility and Limitations

- Versatile Immortal: Wu's high magic damage and AoE nature allow her to slot into various elemental marches, particularly when additional damage output is needed. 

Limitations 

- Wu's reliance on crit rate and magic damage scaling requires specific **ToK skills** or artifacts to reach her full potential. 

- She is less effective in purely physical damage-oriented teams, as there may be less synergy with magic-focused abilities. 

Overcoming Limitations 

- Using ToK skills like Annihilation or Energy Suppression can boost Wu's effectiveness in different team setups. 

- Pairing her with magic-supporting Immortals (like Theodora or Merlin) enhances her ultimate damage. 

Points to Consider: 

- Areas to concentrate on Wu's Magic Attack and Crit attributes for her EA. 

- Pair Wu with immortals like Charles and Alexander to balance survivability and damage output. - Experiment with Wu in various PvE events to see how she can elevate your team's performance. - Wu Zetian's Giant Fireball makes her a standout AoE magic damage dealer, effective in PvE (Time Rift, Spider) and maybe PvP battles. 

- Her crit rate is a crucial statistic since will boost her damage output. 

- While versatile, Wu thrives in magic-heavy teams. With the right ToK skills and support, she can adapt to various elemental marches, but her potential shines brightest in teams that enhance her magic abilities.  

Final Thoughts

Wu Zetian stands out as a top-tier choice for PvE players, especially F2P players who haven’t invested in Himiko or Chaos immortals. Her Rain of Fire ultimate skill makes her an excellent option for boosting points in PvE events when paired with a march that lets her abilities shine. 

Whether you're early or mid-game and working with a limited roster, or a seasoned player experimenting with 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th marches, Wu brings versatility and power to the table. She’s a solid pick for players looking to maximise their performance without breaking the bank. Maybe it is time to unleash her potential.
