King Arthur's proclamation embracing magic ignites hope and fear throughout Camelot, as those with magical abilities are invited to join a new order, the "mage guards," while others flee the kingdom. Fifteen individuals, proven to possess magical gifts, are tasked with training under Morgana and Merlin to protect Camelot, marking a transformative and uncertain new era for the kingdom.

🔷 Part 14: “A Tournament of Magic and Strength”

The newly formed mage guard stood in a large, open arena within the castle grounds. The early morning sun cast long shadows as Arthur, Morgana, and Merlin observed from a raised platform, eager to witness the abilities of their recruits in action. The arena, a circular expanse surrounded by high stone walls, was designed for training and combat demonstrations. Today, it would serve as the battleground for the mage guards’ first in-house tournament.

Arthur stepped forward, his voice echoing through the arena. "Today, you will demonstrate your combat abilities against one another. This tournament will determine your rank and duties within the mage guard. Future competitions will offer opportunities to rise in rank, but for now, we seek to understand your strengths and potential."

The recruits, a mix of excitement and nerves in their eyes, nodded in unison. They had trained rigorously under Morgana and Merlin, learning to harness and control their magical gifts. Now, they would put those lessons to the test.

The first match was called, pitting a young woman named Elara, who could control the winds, against a burly man named Darius, whose magic resonated with the earth. As they stepped into the arena, the crowd fell silent, anticipation hanging in the air.

Elara moved first, her hands weaving through the air as she summoned a gust of wind that swirled around Darius, attempting to lift him off his feet. Darius stood firm, his feet rooted to the ground. With a grunt, he slammed his fists into the earth, sending a shockwave that disrupted Elara's wind and knocked her off balance. The two exchanged blows, their powers clashing in a dazzling display of elemental magic. Finally, Elara managed to outmaneuver Darius, using her agility and wind manipulation to trap him in a vortex, earning her the victory.

Next up was Rowan, a healer with the ability to mend wounds, against Lyra, who could manipulate fire. Despite his non-combative gift, Rowan demonstrated impressive strategic thinking, using his healing abilities to endure Lyra's fiery onslaught. Lyra, on the other hand, showed exceptional control over her flames, creating intricate patterns of fire that forced Rowan to stay on the defensive. In the end, Lyra's relentless attacks overwhelmed Rowan, securing her place as the victor. 

Match after match, the recruits showcased their unique talents. There was Aiden, who could move objects with his mind, facing off against Sera, who could manipulate water. Their duel turned the arena into a whirlwind of telekinetically hurled boulders and torrents of water, ending with Sera's water magic extinguishing Aiden's advantage.

As the tournament progressed, Arthur, Morgana, and Merlin observed keenly, noting the strengths and weaknesses of each recruit. They sought those who demonstrated not only raw power but also tactical acumen, teamwork, and the ability to adapt under pressure.

The final match of the day was between Caius, a young man whose magic resonated with the earth, and Elena, a noblewoman with the gift of telekinesis. The battle was fierce, with Caius using his connection to the earth to create barriers and launch attacks, while Elena deftly deflected his assaults and countered with telekinetically hurled stones. In a surprising turn, Elena lifted Caius off the ground, breaking his connection to the earth and leaving him vulnerable, securing her victory.

With the tournament concluded, Arthur stood to address the mage guards. "You have all demonstrated great skill and courage today. Your ranks will be assigned based on your performance, with the highest ranks taking on leadership roles and the lower ranks serving as scouts and operatives. Remember, this is just the beginning. Continue to train, to grow, and to support one another. Camelot's future depends on your strength and unity."

The mage guards, exhausted but proud, nodded in agreement. They had proven themselves in combat, but they knew the road ahead would be filled with challenges. As the sun set over Camelot, they left the arena with a sense of purpose, ready to take on their new roles and defend their kingdom.

In the following days, the ranks were announced. Elara, Lyra, and Elena were appointed as top officials, responsible for leading the mage guard and making strategic decisions. Others, like Darius and Rowan, were assigned as scouts, tasked with patrolling the surrounding forests and gathering intelligence. The mage guard, now structured and ready, began their duties, each member committed to protecting Camelot and upholding Arthur's vision of a kingdom where magic was embraced and celebrated.

Everything's coming together for Arthur. He has control of the kingdom and has shaped it in his image. Now he has powerful mages by his side. But threats from the outside are starting to loom as reports of a missing mage have been reported. Danger is on the way, and he will have to navigate what is to come!
