In this guide, we’ll explore how Poseidon thrives, alongside top-tier Chaos / HolyImmortals, like Loki, Athena, Nine Tails, and Theodora. We’ll discuss why it's crucial to have a strong defence and support unit for Poseidon the time he requires to advance his ultimate skill. Unlike Water-element Immortals, Poseidon falls under the Chaos faction, making him flexible for mixed-element hybrid teams.  

As a Spearman Attack Immortal, Poseidon’s success hinges on having strong defensive and support Immortals to back him up. Why? Because his survival depends on staying in the fight long enough to charge up Giant Wave, his devastating ultimate skill. Defensive Immortals like Athena or Loki act as a shield, absorbing damage and holding the front line, while support units like Nine Tails or Theodora provide healing and debuff cleansing to keep Poseidon in fighting shape. Once Poseidon finally unleashes Giant Wave, the impact is massive—dealing heavy physical damage to enemy units and disrupting their march with a wave of destruction. By building a team that buys Poseidon the time he needs, you ensure he hits hard and turns the tide of battle in your favour.

 Poseidon's strength and physical damage are both amplified by his EA, which also provides bonus stats to maximise his output.

Explames of bonus stats from the EA are, increased physical attack or crit rate, amplifying his damage output. Therefore, making his Giant Wave ultimate even more devastating against enemy units.

Remember to get the EA that will provide these bonus stats, requires time, resources, commitment and a significant amount of patience.

Poseidon excels in Chaos marches where his AoE physical damage can shine, and he's supported by Immortals who balances his offensive role with defence and healing.  

Top Picks for Synergy

1. Loki (Chaos): Loki's ability to debuff and disrupt enemy teams pairs perfectly with Poseidon's damage, creating chaos (pun intended) in enemy ranks.  
2. Athena (Chaos): Provides strong defensive buffs and healing, ensuring Poseidon stays alive to fire off Giant Wave.  
3. Nine Tails (Chaos): Cleanses debuffs and supports the team with healing, crucial for countering crowd control effects that could stop Poseidon.

Death Breath: Adds extra AoE damage that synergises with Giant Wave's physical attack.  

Purification: Removes debuffs like Silence or Energy Suppression that could prevent Giant Wave from firing.  

Exclusive Artifact's Impact: Trident

Poseidon's artifact significantly enhances his physical damage output, providing stat boosts such as critical damage, attack speed, and troop survivability. This artifact turns Poseidon into a glass cannon, capable of dishing out immense damage quickly but requiring a sturdy team to protect him.  

Highlighting the Primary Stat: Physical Attack Bonus along with the secondary Stat Bonuses: Physical, Magical Attack and another Physical Attack Bonus. The resilience Value will aid Poseidon's survivability and longevity while in battle. The Special Attribute could be a talking point, is it beneficial to increase his energy regen speed? (Ultimate Skill will work quicker) or are the attributes of Iron Fist more applicable to the physical damage boost? It will all come down to personal preference, along with the march build and ToK skills.

Top Attack Skills for Poseidon

Death Breath: Enhances AoE damage, turning Poseidon into a battlefield sweeper.  

Anger: Increases critical damage, complementing his physical DPS role.  

Combo: Adds extra hits, boosting overall damage output.

How would you balance attack and defence skills in a march built around Poseidon?

I have suggested low-tier skills as a starting point. There are plenty of high-tier skills that would aid Posidons physical damage or increase his survivability. 

What ToK skills would you suggest?

An example of Poseidon EA only managing to work 1 time, Giant wave: 1 critical hit, total damage 3,982,267 with a 100% accuracy rate per hit. The rest of the damage was done by 13 normal hits, with a total of 3,409,340 physical damage, with no accuracy rating. Poseidon had no attempts to dodge those pesky gnomes. In this particular battle, Poseidon was rather underwhelming with his Trident.

What should you look out for when facing a Poseidon-led Chaos march?

Poseidon's strength lies in his offensive potential, but his reliance on defence and support makes him vulnerable to aggressive teams. 

When building a counter to the counter, think about marches that can inflict harm on your spear-wielding attack immortal:

1. Silence or suppress his energy gain (e.g., teams with Wu Zetian or William Wallace).  
2. Tank his physical damage with high-defense Immortals like Charles the Great or Yi Sun-sin.  
3. Outpace his damage with magic-heavy teams like Lightning or hybrid Fire/Water setups. 

When building your march, there are many variables to consider, he could face a march of similar immortals, for example:

Chaos, Shadow, or Earth Immortals can provide strong counters to Poseidon’s march, often through disruption, burst damage, or healing denial. For example:

Nine Tails (Chaos): Her Phantom Pact skill cleanses debuffs from allies, which can counter Loki’s control effects or dispel Poseidon’s pressure on your team. Her crowd control immunity ensures she stays in the fight to support her team.

Anubis (Chaos): With his Deadly Sandstorm skill, Anubis can apply Serious Wound to reduce healing from Theodora and Athena, cutting off their ability to sustain Poseidon long enough to unleash Giant Wave.

Wukong (Chaos): As a strong, evasive attacker, Wukong can bypass frontline defences with his clones and deals consistent damage to squishier backline supports like Theodora, disrupting their healing and defence.

Shadow Immortals: Elizabeth Bathory Vampiric Kiss, applies healing reduction, while Himiko can burn enemies down quickly with DoT, weakening the survivability of defensive Chaos units.

Earth Immortals: These marches, known for their flexibility and power, bring impactful damage and sustain. Alexander the Great provides physical defence debuffs that amplify burst damage against Poseidon’s frontline. Pairing him with Zenobia, whose healing and support ensure a balanced team, could outlast Poseidon’s damage cycle.

The key to countering Poseidon’s march lies in disrupting his ultimate skill, Giant Wave before it can hit. By using healing reduction (Anubis, Elizabeth Bathory), crowd control immunity (Nine Tails), and high burst damage from evasive Immortals (Wukong or Holy units), you can dismantle the synergy of Poseidon’s team. When facing a Poseidon-led march, look for ways to cripple his support structure or prevent him from surviving long enough to unleash his devastating skill.

Take Note

One key drawback to swapping out Charles for Poseidon in an Earth march is the loss of Charles’ shield from his ultimate, which significantly boosts team survivability. Earth teams aren’t known for being the sturdiest defensively. So relying on Poseidon, instead of Charles can leave your frontline a bit exposed. If your opponent manages to nerf or delay Alexander’s ultimate, the team’s ability to endure a prolonged fight takes a big hit. So, while Poseidon brings strong offensive potential, the trade-off is a noticeable dip in defensive resilience—something to carefully weigh when planning your march build
