🔷 Introduction
Welcome to my Wukong’s Path series, where we follow Wukong on his journey with 3 incredible fire wielders.
They have all had to battle with matters of the heart and mind, constantly being tested on their journey together. They have most recently upgraded their powers with a mysterious philosopher stone that was abused by Wukong and has tested their relationship, but they have and will always fight for their friends!
📄 Recap of Part 14: “Hunt for Theodora”
As Wu and her group struggle to find the legendary healer Theodora in the seemingly abandoned city, they face the growing darkness within Wukong and confront threatening bandits, only to realize their journey is fraught with unforeseen dangers.
The city's eerie silence and the mysterious absence of Theodora reveal that their quest is not just for healing but a battle against a lurking evil.
🔷 Part 15: “Quest for Redemption”
The days that followed their encounter with the bandits were a blur of relentless searching and creeping despair. The city of Theodora, once thought to be bustling and alive, was an eerie labyrinth of silent streets and abandoned buildings. The group scoured every corner, their hopes dimming with each empty alley and vacant house.
Wu, Seondeok, Hippolyta, and the still-unconscious Wukong pressed on, driven by the faint glimmer of hope that Theodora, the legendary healer, could still be found. They relied on the occasional whispered rumor or the flicker of movement to guide their path, every lead feeling like a lifeline in the darkness.
On the third day, their search led them to the outskirts of the city, where an old monastery stood amidst overgrown gardens and crumbling stone walls. The building seemed untouched by the desolation that gripped the rest of the city, its heavy wooden doors partially ajar.
Inside, the air was cool and still, filled with the faint scent of incense and the soft murmurs of prayer. Nuns moved quietly through the dimly lit corridors, their heads bowed in silent devotion. The group's presence drew a few curious glances but no questions; they were allowed to roam freely, the nuns seemingly unperturbed by the arrival of strangers.
It was Seondeok who first noticed her—a nun who moved with a quiet grace, her eyes sharp and observant. There was something in her demeanor, a sense of authority, that set her apart from the others. Seondeok approached her cautiously.
"Pardon me," Seondeok began, her voice respectful. "We are looking for Theodora, the healer. We were told she could be found here."
The nun's eyes flickered with recognition, but she maintained her composure. "Theodora is no longer here," she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of sadness.
Wu stepped forward, desperation in her eyes. "Please, we need her help. My friend... he is dying. We were told she could save him."
The nun hesitated, then nodded. "Come with me," she said, turning to lead them deeper into the monastery.
They followed her through a series of winding passages until they reached a secluded chamber. The nun closed the door behind them and removed her veil, revealing the face of a woman in her early forties, with piercing eyes and an air of quiet strength.
"I am Theodora," she said, her voice low and steady. "I have been hiding here to avoid the threats that plague my city. But if you have come seeking my help, I will not turn you away."
Wu felt a surge of relief. "Thank you," she breathed. "Wukong... he needs you. The darkness within him is consuming him."
Theodora nodded, her expression grave. "I will do what I can for him," she said. "But my help comes with a price."
The group exchanged uneasy glances, and Hippolyta stepped forward. "What do you need from us?"
"There is a man named Manco," Theodora said, her eyes hardening. "He is the source of the threats against me and my city. He seeks to harness the same dark powers that have afflicted your friend. If you can eliminate him, I will do everything in my power to save Wukong."
The room fell silent, the weight of Theodora's words settling over them like a shroud. They had come seeking a healer, but their journey had led them to a far greater challenge than they had anticipated.
Wu looked at her companions, seeing the determination in their eyes. "We will do it," she said firmly. "We will find this Manco and put an end to his threat. For Wukong, and for your city."
Theodora's gaze softened, and she nodded. "Thank you," she said quietly. "I will begin preparing to treat your friend. When you return, I will be ready."
As they left the monastery, a sense of purpose filled the group.
📄 Recap Questions
Who is Manco to our adventurers, and how does he fit into this future of our heroes?
How could someone hold something so great over Theodora, a legendary healer, and if so, what is it?
🔷 Conclusion
There is no length our heroes wouldn’t go to help their friends, and this is well within the bounds of what they would attempt to do to care for their own.
Some mysterious figure they have never heard of is nothing for our group after some of the epic adventures they have already been through.
See you next week!
