[Hades Story] The Descent Part 2 - An Infinity Kingdom Story

Welcome back, I am happy to present part two in Elizabeth's quest! She will play a very important role in the grand scheme in the Infinity Kingdom story and her journey has only just begun. So grab a seat, get a nice cup of coffee and enjoy!

Elizabeth was cursed as a child.  She harbored this curse which haunted her entire life.  When she came of age the curse was revealed and she became a vampire who could not control her hunger for blood. Ironically she was unable to harm humans even though one had caused this curse on her.

Her heart was stuck between love and hate, and needed to find a way to live both with herself and within the world. 

📔 The Descent  (Part 2) 

The curse gnawed at Elizabeth’s soul like a relentless beast, driving her to the edge of madness. Despite her compassionate heart, the insatiable hunger that consumed her could no longer be ignored. The forests surrounding her castle echoed with the desperate pleas of the goblins, the only creatures nearby whose blood she could consume without the agony of guilt. 

The pact she forged with the goblins was born of necessity. They trembled before her, their grotesque forms bowing in fearful obedience as they offered their blood as tribute.

For years, Elizabeth sustained herself on their sacrifices, the guilt and shame weighing heavy upon her heart with each drop she drank. But the curse demanded more than they could give, and soon, she found herself driven to a frenzy, hunting goblins across the land in a desperate bid to quench her unending thirst.

The once tranquil forests of Onurisu became stained with the blood of the innocent, and Elizabeth’s reputation as a terror grew. Villagers whispered in fear of the Blood Witch, a cursed creature whose mercy had been eclipsed by an insatiable bloodlust.

One fateful night, when the moon hung low and crimson in the sky, Elizabeth’s rampage brought her to the outskirts of a small village. The goblins had fled, leaving her to stalk the shadows alone. It was in this moment of despair that she encountered Siegfried, a wandering knight whose noble heart matched his formidable skill.

Siegfried sensed her presence before he saw her—a flicker of darkness amidst the moonlit trees. As Elizabeth lunged at him with feral grace, he parried her attack with a swift and practiced movement, his sword ringing out in defiance against her claws. They danced a deadly waltz beneath the canopy of ancient trees, the clash of steel echoing through the night.

In the midst of their battle, as Elizabeth’s crimson eyes blazed with hunger and fury, Siegfried spoke with a calm yet commanding voice that cut through the chaos surrounding them. "Elizabeth," he called out, his words piercing through her turmoil. "There is another way. You are not alone in this darkness."

His words struck a chord within her, awakening memories long buried beneath layers of guilt and despair. For a fleeting moment, doubt flickered in Elizabeth’s eyes, and her frenzied assault faltered. She saw in Siegfried’s unwavering gaze a reflection of the strength she once possessed—a strength that had been overshadowed by centuries of torment.

In that moment of hesitation, Siegfried did not strike back. Instead, he lowered his sword, offering her a chance to reconsider her choices. His act of mercy was a beacon of hope in the sea of darkness that threatened to consume her.

Elizabeth stood frozen, torn between the hunger that ravaged her soul and the flicker of humanity that Siegfried’s words had reignited within her. The forest fell silent around them, as if holding its breath in anticipation of her decision.

With a heavy heart and tears glistening in her eyes, Elizabeth retracted her own claws. The realization of what she had nearly done flooded her with shame and remorse. She had abandoned her vow, succumbing to the curse’s darkest impulses.

Siegfried approached cautiously, his gaze unwavering as he extended a hand to her—not in submission, but in understanding. "There is another way, Elizabeth," he said gently, his voice a whisper amidst the shadows. "You can choose to fight this curse. You can choose to find redemption."

His words resonated with her, stirring a resolve that had long lain dormant. Elizabeth nodded slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. "Help me," she pleaded, her tone laced with desperation and hope.

And so began their journey—a journey not only to uncover the secrets of the mage’s curse, but to reclaim Elizabeth’s humanity amidst the darkness that threatened to consume her. With Siegfried by her side, she faced the trials ahead with renewed courage, knowing that even in her darkest moments, she was not alone.
