Hello, adventurers! It's Mael back again, and today we're diving into the world of Water Immortals in Infinity Kingdom. Water is a versatile element, favored in the early game for its Free-to-Play friendly approach. Even though Water was my main team for a long time, I don't suggest keeping it as your primary team. Instead, leverage its versatility for a second or third team, as it's not too difficult to build. Join me as we rank the top Water Immortals and explore the best team setups for every budget, from Free-to-Play to high spenders. Let's make a splash!

Water is a go-to choice for many players in the early stages of Infinity Kingdom, mainly due to its accessibility. But just because it's popular doesn't mean it lacks power. In fact, Water has some unique strengths that can help you build a formidable team.

  • Merlin shines as one of the game's premier DPS characters for PvP engagements.
  • Attila boasts a versatile toolkit, ideal for overcoming challenging PvP scenarios with his silence ability and formidable physical damage.
  • Yoshitsune shares the crown for the top single-target DPS alongside Hippolyta, making them both indispensable for boss encounters.
  • Dragon Heal ensures sustained survival during PvE tasks such as Gnome farming.

Mael's Tier-Ranking of Water Immortals.

Balanced and versatile, Water holds its own in every aspect of Infinity Kingdom, perfectly aligned with the Free-to-Play playstyle. As the counter to Fire, Water's strategic importance cannot be overstated. With many players opting for Water as their main element, it's essential to keep this in mind when assembling your team. Let's explore my ranking of the best Water Immortals:

Must-Have:

Merlin (more details on this Immortal here), the Great Wizard, is undeniably the top pick among Water Immortals. His skill, Prophecy, delivers devastating magical damage to all enemies, especially effective against frontline foes. It's a no-brainer and a must-have for any Water team setup. In my opinion, if you can't get Merlin, it's better to focus on building a Fire team, as Water without Merlin is significantly weaker. Any water setup should focus on maximizing and strategizing Merlin's damage output. Additionally, having his unique artifact enhances the Prophecy skill effect, recovering 50 energy and 2% of his max HP every time Prophecy triggers.

Very Good

Now that we've highlighted the indispensable Merlin, let's shift our focus to other very good options.

Attila The Hun, the Water Attack Cavalry Immortal, specializes in dealing damage in a fan-shaped area in front of him, with the added effects of reducing physical defense and silencing enemies. I've ranked Attila highly because, when equipped with the right skills and combinations, he becomes a formidable silencing machine. As Water is often the preferred choice for free-to-play and low-spending players, Attila has always been a staple in the meta. Attila's Exclusive Artifact is an important one. It lowers the Physical defense of enemies hit by his ultimate skill. Attila remains an essential component of any Water march, thanks to his consistent performance and solid value.

Ragnar Lothbrok, the Water Defense Shieldmen Immortal is a much-needed tank for Water teams, adding variety and making them stronger, especially when teamed up with Dido and Merlin. Frostbite Blow is a cool skill that works great with other Water Immortals like Dido, who can chill enemies and more particularly Merlin as it increases the magical damage the ennemy receive by 30% for 6 seconds. It also pairs well with the Water Dragon Glyndwr's Ice Breath, which can freeze enemies. If you already have Dido, Ragnar is a good buy, but you might want to wait for more testing if you're not sure. Feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts in the comments below! You can get Ragnar Lothbrok through the Legion of Frostborne event by opening Ancient Remnant chests, which is slow and expensive, through King of the Hill, Lucky Spin or by purchasing Special Bundles that regularly appear in the shop.

Decent

Now, let's move on to the decent Water Immortals, as per my opinion.

Harald III is a worthy Free-to-Play choice, serving as both a tank and "decent" damage dealer. Available in the Arena Shop and through the Immortal Hall, he offers versatility. His unique artifact is valuable as Glacier Incursion will not only lower physical defense but also magical defense, creating synergy with Merlin. Some setups pair Harald with Ragnar on the frontline to amplify Merlin's damage. While Attila's silencing skill is valuable, this combination adds an intriguing twist. In my opinion, I ranked Harald higher than Ramses because he's a solid option for Free-to-Play players. Additionally, his artifact is accessible through many events, adding to his value and versatility.

Dido is a Support backrow Immortal who is usually paired with Merlin. She is pay-to-have but can easily be unlocked through various events such as King of the Hill, Lucky Spin, Trionfi of Fate. She provides a very good amount of physical defense to the team which is great especially with a lot of players focusing on physical damage. Plus, she boosts the damage output of Merlin (50%) significantly by chilling enemies. I placed Dido as Decent because there are other options in backrow alongside Merlin which are not Water Immortals. However, for a pure water team, she deserves her spot.

Situational

Yoshitsune: Powerful single-target archer with an ultimate that hits harder on low-troop enemies. Great for PvE bosses (Spider, Time Rift, etc.) but not ideal for current PvP meta. Ranked Situational.

Do Not Use

Ramsess, a Water Spearman, strikes enemies in front, disarming them and reducing their damage. However, as a pay-to-unlock Immortal, he doesn't quite stand out. Compared to frontliners like Harald, Attila, and Ragnar, he lacks the must-have appeal. That's why Ramsess stands alone as the only "Do Not Use" Immortal in my tier ranking. Harald, being free-to-play, offers a better alternative.

Water Team: Budget Options from Free-to-Play to High Spenders

In this section, we'll explore optimal Water team setups tailored to different budget ranges, ranging from Free-to-Play to Mid-Spenders, ensuring every player can find a strategy that suits their resources.

Free-To-Play Mael's Top Choice.

Pure Water with Attila

The "F2P Water Pure" build goes all-in on Water's natural strengths. Here, the powerful duo of Merlin and Attila take center stage. Merlin's magic damage abilities work in tandem with Attila's raw damage output and control to dominate the battlefield.

To further enhance Merlin's magic damage, Yoshi is used as a support Immortal to help Merlin maintain a high troop count, which translates into even more powerful magical attacks.

Hybrid Water without Attila

While building Attila, use Merlin with either:

  1. Combine Merlin with Yoshi, Harald, and Hannibal Barca. This is the most powerful team if you do not have Attila yet, but it requires Hannibal Barca's unique artifact. While Hannibal Barca is a fantastic alternative if you haven't unlocked Attila yet, there's no denying Attila's control abilities.
  2. Pair Merlin with Yoshi, Harald, and Hippolyta. This combination excels at taking down bosses. Harald brings extra firepower to the team, acting as a secondary damage dealer. Additionally, Harald's skills amplify the damage output of both Yoshi and Hippolyta (physical damage). Even Hippolyta, who isn't the main focus here, can contribute decent damage thanks to Harald's support.

Mid-Spenders Mael's Top Choice.

Next up, we'll explore a budget-friendly alternative! This setup won't be pure Water, but a hybrid that incorporates affordable Immortals from other elements. These Immortals are perfect for low spenders because you can max them out using gems from the marketplace.

Water Pure: Ragnar, Attila, Dido and Merlin: Dido's chilling abilities freeze enemies, boosting Merlin's damage by a staggering 50%. This powerful duo punches through a wide variety of foes with devastating results. Ragnar further enhances this synergy and reduces magical defense of ennemies. This budget powerhouse lets you compete with even the biggest spenders! So, if you're looking for a strong, versatile Water team without breaking the bank, this is the perfect choice for you!

Water and Bathory: Want raw power? Including Bathory instead of Dido focuses on boosting the damage of both Bathony and Merlin. This setup requires Attila's unique artifact for peak performance. Bathory offers a powerful, budget-friendly option for Water. Her inclusion becomes particularly strategic if you cannot afford to reach VIP 15 and therefore build a Shadow Team. Now, some of you might be rocking Earth with Bathory. But if you can swing Himiko in, she's actually the better choice and the inclusion of Bathory in Water makes sense.

Water and Khan: Including Khan in your water team is a good choice, BUT ONLY if you are not using a Lightning team for another march. This setup follows a standard meta, similar to what earth teams have been doing for years: protecting their backlines and ensuring that their heavy damage dealers maintain high troop counts, allowing them to inflict massive damage. Khan is effective even when used as support for Merlin, and can still deal decent damages with this strategy. Moreveor, and more importantly, his wounding ability is crucial for preventing enemy healing, thereby enhancing overall sustainability.

High-Spenders Mael's Top Choice.

Ragnar, Attila, Merlin and Himiko!

In my opinion, this build with Himiko is the absolute strongest Water build for spenders. Merlin and Himiko both deal significant damage, while Himiko and Attila provide unmatched control of the playing field. Additionally, Ragnar offers valuable support passives and a strong damage modifier debuff. With the addition of the Sparks of Galaxy event, it's now possible to obtain and max Himiko purely with gems.

For the top tier of our ranking across all budgets, I advise against spending heavily on Water teams. If you started the game with a Water team and have a spending habit, I recommend moving your Water team to your second, third, or even fourth team and investing elsewhere. Demoting your Water team doesn't mean it has to be weak; my high spender's Water march includes Himiko, remaining strong and respectable without excessive investment.

In conclusion, Water Immortals offer a unique blend of versatility and power in Infinity Kingdom, making them a strong choice for players at all levels. Whether you are a Free-to-Play beginner or a high spender, Water teams can be optimized to perform well in various game modes.

By using key Immortals like Merlin, Attila, and Ragnar, players can create teams that balance strong damage, effective control, and solid defense. Water teams can remain competitive, even if they are moved to secondary or tertiary roles in your roster.

For those who can invest more, adding Himiko turns the Water team into a powerhouse capable of dominating the battlefield. Events like Sparks of Galaxy make it easier to obtain powerful Immortals, allowing more players to build strong teams.

Success with Water Immortals comes from understanding their strengths, adapting your strategy, and wisely using your resources. Whether you're building your first team or refining your lineup for advanced play, I hope these insights will help you navigate Infinity Kingdom.

N.B.: Artemisia and Margaret were not included in the tier-ranking as I haven't had the opportunity to personally test them yet. However, I plan to update the article before Sunday, June 9th, with my evaluation of both immortals. Thank you for your understanding.
