In the Legion of Frostborne, we were accustomed to the Battle of the Zone occurring in the third week of the contest, with gates dividing the regions in zone 1. Previously, alliances often maneuvered to secure servers, finding themselves attacked from both sides of their starting region.

However, game developers have recently implemented a significant change. Instead of the usual 8 servers in KvK, there are now only 4, resulting in empty zones that facilitate more tactical warfare and strategic adaptation.

Let's dig into an example of how to approach the new KvK map. On my server, 243, we are currently engaged in Season 2 KvK alongside servers 241, 242, and 244. Server 244 has a notably lower population and struggles to participate in objective captures at the pace of 241, 242, and 243. This situation presents an opportunity for our side to utilize their unoccupied cities for rewards and buffs.

Anticipating that 241 would advance north towards the empty zone between themselves and 242, we understood that 242 would have some reaction time to prepare for a potential invasion, affording them the opportunity to secure a gate of their own.

Given this scenario, we at 243 predicted pressure on the west side of our zone. Therefore, with proper preparation, we opted to forgo city objectives in 244 for the time being and instead moved directly north to seize a few cities in 242 while they were preoccupied with monitoring 241's movements.

To execute this strategy effectively, we needed to establish multiple alliances to swiftly navigate through the gates:

1. 1st gate out of zone 243: Haruk Cliff, taken by Team 1 with a tower already in place to declare war.

2. 2nd gate into zone 244: Triple-River Gate, quickly built by alt alliance 1.

3. 3rd gate out of zone 244: Alauda Gate, quickly built by alt alliance 2.

4. 4th gate into zone 241: Mt. Adab, quickly built by alt alliance 3.

5. City takedown at Vindarfr: Quickly executed by the main alliance.

Executing this plan required coordination among several teams:

- Team 1: Gate 1

- Team 2: Gate 2

- Team 3: Gate 3

- Team 1: Gate 4

- Teams 2 and 3: City capture

This allowed us to move within the time frame of the enrage debuff, enabling Team 1 to breach Gate 4 by the time Gate 3 fell, allowing Teams 2 and 3 to swiftly capture the city.

The rapid movements executed by 243 surprised both 241 and 242, who, with the expanded map, had been taking their time with their own strategies. By the time we had secured two cities in 242, 241 had only occupied one gate, and it was only then that major players in 242 began to intervene with the ongoing occupation.

Once Zone 2 opens up, the game field will be more similar to what we are used to in KvK. Follow along to see who will be victories in the season 2 KvK of servers 241-244.
