Hello my infinity kingdom family. Today’s article is brought to you by the request of a member. A little while back, I had a peer with within our server ask me if I knew the answer to the infinity kingdom knowledge quiz question:
“In Norse mythology, what is the well of wisdom and knowledge called?”
The Answer for those of you who are curious is: Mimisbrunnr
However, it is not this question that leads to this requested article, but a follow-up question asked by a peer when the answer was provided. They were curious to know why the answer and this question were important and how it related to the game.
If you have not discovered through my articles exploring cities, I truly enjoy looking at the origins of names, mythology, and the layers of meanings one can unveil when a little curiosity is unleased. So naturally, this request unleashed my inner child excited to discover the hidden treasures of that story which keeps you up at night, wanting to read just one more page.
To first know why this question is significant, we most first learn of Mimir.
Mimir (name pronounced MEE-mir) was known for his knowledge and prophetic wisdom. His name translates to memory or the remembered depending upon the text you are referencing. Mimir was thought of as a being who helped gods retain the wisdom of ancestral tradition, and a guide for actions to be taken. He guarded a well of knowledge that resided under the roots of Yggdrasill, a world tree. His story present and future is closely interlaced with that of Odin’s.
In Norse mythology, there resides four wells. Three of these wells were guarded by a Norns. Urda (the past), Verdandi (the present), and Skuld (the future) these counselors of gods would be visited to pass their judgment on man and their deeds. Furthermore, there exists a fourth well underneath another root of these three wells. The Well of Knowledge or Mimisbrunnr, guarded by Mimir the Wise.
It is here I want to stop and highlight the importance of the wells of water. There are four wells of water you as a lord can access daily.
The first well of water is a whirlpool found within a lord’s castle courtyard just outside the wall and portcullis. This well resembles that of Urda’s it was a tool the developers utilized in the past at the early onset of the game where lords could interact and share ideas.
As the community grew and evolved, so did the tools and resources. Now lords can make suggestions through the official IK discord page at: #Suggestions.
Here, suggestions are reviewed and if approved submitted to the greater IK community to vote on at #Voting.
Don’t forget to go in and vote on the recent suggestion recommended by your fellow lords. They have a significant impact.

While the whirlpool well has by many fallen into a distant memory, a little nostalgia is always good to hold onto. We have seen this recently as our developers once again are inviting members to reach out through IK studio to leave a message. This is great for all the lords unable to access discord.

The castle court yard also is home to the beloved wishing fountain where each day a lord can pray to the goddess to receive the desired resources and collect boosts for each wish made.
Similar to how gods would travel each day to visit the wells guarded by the three Norns, our wishing fountain is also overlooked by three guardians. These wishes help us grow and develop in the present.

The third well within our courtyard can be found in the bottom far right-hand side of our menu bar. We first enter this well to find the well of time when our journey begins on day one. This well helps us see into the future and plan for events to come and games played across servers and between alliances.

It is here you unlock seasonal, daily, and weekly games such as the new Time Rift Breaker, Contention of Relics, Battle Chess, Illusion Battlefield, Legion of Frostborn and our treasured well of time where immortals upgrade materials, experience, and increased growth advantages are unlocked as your immortals and troops grow in strength.

This well of time buried under a branch of another well Reminds me of Mimisbrunnr. As you unlock levels, another piece of knowledge and wisdom is bestowed upon a lord as the next chapter reviles more behind the story of Norheim and how our world came to exist as it does today.
But the story of Mimisbrunnr and connections to our game do not end there. The significance of this question and why one would want to know about the well of knowledge told in tales of old from Norse mythology have ties that surpass the well and reach into the eye a lord would use to collect Chaos immortals. The significance of the Eye and the well is where we must introduce the story of Odin.

While some gods feasted and observed those around them, Odin pondered on what his two ravens aptly named: Thought and Memory taught him of man. He was responsible for postponing the day of doom. A supreme among the gods and men. As such he went to the Well of Wisdom guarded by Mimir the Wise to beg for a drink. Odin was granted his request in exchange for an eye. Through Odin’s sacrifice he was granted knowledge of the Ruins within the well. He imparted his hard-won knowledge to that of man so that they could protect themselves.
This part of Odin’s tale also resonates within the game’s Ruins Exploration. Lords upon entering the game is provided a map of ruins to explore and gather from while collecting puzzle pieces from three zones. Please visit this guide produced by Gabben explaining ruins in greater detail.

As you gather and hunt for ruins in a where’s waldo fashion (probably dating myself with that reference) you collect puzzle pieces that provide additional rewards and unlocks a piece of Norheim history. These gifts and knowledge if wielded correctly can help a lord develop a march of immortals so they are strong and fierce. The knowledge of infinity kingdom ruins are unveiled similar to that of which Odin obtains through the sacrifice of an eye. Lords are luckier however, to access the knowledge they are only required to invest a little time and patience.

So for those of you who turn away from water and say the drink is boring…. remember how it can nourish and enlighten both within and outside of the game. From the wishing fountain for resources, to the Well of Time for immortal fragments. Whether it be the well where we request and share knowledge to developers, or even within weakly games where a lord can cast a wish within the Blessing of Triss event. Cherish these ties and remember a little curiosity and exploration can bring you knowledge beyond expectations.
