So, you want to jump servers…. Now what???

I remember the first day I was introduced to the concept of migrating; where a lord would jump from one server to another.

The alliance leader had announced their desire to relocate to an active server and asked for everyone to follow. They failed to explain however, the need for portals and what jumping would entail for each member. At this time most members had just unlocked T4 troops. The announcement came prior to season 1 frost wars and about 4 weeks after, myself and 20 others had gathered 2,000 gems to change kingdoms affording the opportunity to join an alliance after the blue kingdom dissolved.

Knowing the cost of just changing kingdoms; in gems, change in culture, and divergence of friends, reinforced the significance of jumping to a new server. The decision to jump should not be taken lightly.

Within my initial server, friends left in what I refer to as the great migration. However, due to this change, I was provided the chance to make new friends and explore the benefits of relocating once again to a new kingdom.

The pros and cons of jumping to a big server with strong players verse staying behind and developing in a less competitive one kingdom server was evaluated. Aspects such as the cost to jump into a new server and possible benefits of wining the next server war were considered. After, careful deliberation, I decided to stay and follow an R5 mentor opposed to following my R6 alliance leader. This decision was not easy.

Through this experience, I was able to identify the interictal importance migration has within the infinity kingdom game and why this change was a necessary requirement to keep growing and developing if done properly. There was no wrong answer on what to do, it came down to what was best for each individual lord at that moment of time.

A major factor for many who stayed behind came down to the individual alliance technology, as it was was not advance enough to have unlocked the possibility of purchasing portals. We had just reached alliance technology level 8. Level 9 technology is required to purchase space portals.

Looking back, one of the things I remember during this time was members leaving the alliance and joining again after grasping the importance of obtaining the proper portal.

I remember Lords being told “not that portal”. So let us start at the beginning. There are a few things you will need in preparation of jumping. The first, if your castle is bigger than level 8, the purple novice space portal will be useless for you. To jump after your castle has exceed level 8, you will need the orange space portal.

This portal can be obtained in a multitude of ways outside of purchasing them from the shop. Games are available for lords to play, some as simple as daily sing in opportunities. These will occasionally pop up as a miniature event within infinity kingdom. Lords can also save alliance coins to purchase portals. Alliance coin is obtainable via three methods:

·        Constructing an alliance city

·        Donating to alliance technology

·        Donating to an alliance occupied city within the legion of frostborn

When donating to alliance technology, your contributions can yield alliance coin for each donation. However, if lucky you may see a x2 or x3. During these instances your donation counts for two or three times the initial donation yielding a lord more coins.

Donating to an occupied city in Frostborn is the quickest way to obtain alliance coins to purchase portals. However, it can become costly. Donating to a city will require you to forfeit resources similarly to how you donate resources to build alliance technology. However, in this case you earn legion points and alliance coin.

1 million resources yield you 50 alliance coin. To purchase a portal you need 20 thousand alliance coin.

Therefore, you need to donate 400 million resources to obtain a single portal.

The last way to obtain alliance coins for portals is free but can cost you in other ways as it requires dispatching a march to construct a city. When constructing a city you are unable to use that march for other events and tasks such as farming resources.

As displayed above, city construction can be a long arduous process, that takes days to obtain the coins required to purchase portals. One also needs to understand once the cities have reached their maximum level, they can no longer be developed and this option of obtaining coins disappears. As such you want to slow construction of your cities by sending small one soldier one immortal marches.

Here you will see Daphne has reached level 15 and alliance members are unable to construct this city.

The option to construct Pherusa for this alliance does remain a viable option as this city is at level eight (8).

Outside of infinity kingdom, lords can obtain portals for free through some discord game rewards such as this week’s runner up contestants within the discord ik-knoweldge quiz:

An individual can also obtain a portal monthly through GT arcade based on GT points earned through purchases, and GT games. The package is located under the infinity kingdom points shop within points gift packs.

For those of you who need that one extra portal and do not have time to acquire one through the above means, they are also available for purchase in the infinity kingdom shop under special bundles. At present it is the last package when you scroll all the way to the right.

So we now are working on obtaining portals as we plan for our jump. As you gather portals you will need to know your overall highest lord power. This is important to know because there are two things you need to be aware of when jumping. One, server kings can limit the power of jumpers coming into their server. If your lord power is greater than that of what is allowed, you will need to negotiate for the lord power restriction to be lifted to enter that server. The second is this overall lord power dictates the number of portals required to successfully jump to your next server.

Migration conditions change season to season. As displayed below, the cap on lord power for season one is significantly less than the minimum power for season 2 within server 225 outlined above.

If you are planning on migrating to a new server and your overall lord power is close to the overall lord power threshold, there are two things you can do to decrease your power relatively easily. The first is removing your dragon from your march. The second is leveraging your troop formations.

One formation is for your main march, the second for farming with low level immortals and no dragons. Dragons do not impact overall troop-carrying load and therefore not needed to farm in servers where you will not be attacked while inside a farming node. Additionally, you will want to ensure the low-level immortals are of different elements. This will prevent boost from being activated if you have three immortals of the same element. The increased power does not impact the carrying load size.

If you are a low spender or free to play member, you will want to plan for jumping well in advance. The first jump I made with my alliance was almost 6 months of pre-planning, gathering of portals, and exploration for the right home. While you plan make sure the servers you are looking at jumping into are viable candidate to relocate within.

(I know soooo much work. Maybe you will get lucky and someone will do the next hard part for you, while you gather these precious portals.) However, if you are placing your trust in a third party to perform this next step, I do encourage you to ask questions. The next stage will require one to become a phenomenal ambassador able to communicate clearly and negotiate for you and any other member who plans to jump.

Jumping is a big deal and I am sure many will never forget their first jump. Whether it was met with trepidation, excitement, sorrow, or indifference.

The idea of finding a new home on a server with complete strangers was terrifying for me. I listened and absorbed all the information I could from experienced members within my server. The stories they shared of all out wars, disputes over world heart, and jumping into a server that appeared active only for it to die shortly after; demonstrated the importance of planning and careful consideration. Perhaps the thing I was worried about the most, was losing the family I found within the core group I had a chance to play with and know personally. Each member was a person and not a number or a faceless name. I shared the highs and lows of big life events. We had times where we cried together, joked, laughed, and were serious. Many would hear me refer to the members of my alliance as my gaming IK family. Each person was a friend. The idea of losing this close community played a huge role in the planning and preparation for our alliance to jump. We wanted to ensure no one was left behind if they wished to follow.

Leadership started early, advising members to be cognizant of their overall lord power, to begin saving for portals (even before our alliance technology unlocked the ability to obtain this item), and what it means to migrate from servers.

Communications regarding the benefits of repeating season one and moving from season one into season two were discussed. While repeating season one allows you to grow and possibly, become one of the strongest alliance/players within the season, individuals also lose out on the 50% boost season two offers for production and technology upgrades, dragons, resource gathering, and gold collection. Additionally immortal experience for killing gnomes is increased 200%. This is instrumental when trying to develop and grow.

Knowing and understanding the benefits each season unlocks is important when developing your jumping plans. Each season introduces new immortals’ lords can obtain. Additionally, there are limitations of who can jump into what server.

The preparation stage is for new castles. You can relocate within this season if you have a level 8 or smaller castle, specific chronicles have been completed and the server is not listed as Unavailable. In this case a lord can utilize the novice space portal. However, if one’s castle is greater than level 8, to migrate into one of these servers you must first wait for them to accomplish specific chronicles, be established for 90 days and become designated as an available world to jump into.

Before entering season two, lords are provided a multitude of warnings informing them that if they wish to remain in season one, they must migrate to a server moving from the preparation stage into season one. Trust me, there is no way to miss the change in seasons between season one and season two. These warnings come in scroll bars across the top of your page as notifications, within world and kingdom chats and large box notifications as you log on advising you of what will be coming in the next season. Once entering season two, you can not re-enter season 1.

When a lord’s server enters conquest, that lord will not have the ability to return to season 2 or season 3. A lord can however, migrate from one server in conquest to another server within conquest.

A lord can jump freely between season 3 and season 2 as long as they are not in a state of war.

While one cannot jump into a server that is in war, A lord can migrate from a server that currently resides in a state of war, to a server not in a state of war.

The legion of frostborn wars can continue up to 45 days. If you have not explored it yet I would recommend the Legion’s Handbook. On the 45th day the server wars will end.

However, these wars could end earlier if Ymir is captured and held for longer than 24 hours. Many times, the winning server will share this city, where a second or third alliance within the server will capture the city before the end of the 24-hour mark; essentially extending the time in which lords can receive rewards and play within the Legion of Frostborn.

Therefore, it remains difficult to confirm with certainty, when a server’s war will end.

This is where things become tricky. Over the past few months, I have received questions about migration and how one can jump from one server to another. My answer is always the same: “While, I am familiar with the theory and practice, there are outside factors I am unable to account for, which changes perfectly laid plans of mice and men.” (Sorry still a librarian at heart, and could not resist, adding in this literary reference).

What may be a promising server in the preparation stage, season 1, and even potentially season 2, could evolve to a point where the server is no longer a variable candidate for migration. Active players from that server may go to a new server, individuals may jump into a server where the dichotomy of the prior environment evolved. Civil war could break out, leadership resigns, or players abandon accounts. Should the server remain strong and remain a viable option for jumping, the next challenge will be determining if a lor will even have the opportunity to enter this server.

A lord used to be able to figure out when the next bracket of servers opened up and what servers comprised of each bracket that would have the potential to face each other in server wars, particularly for those in the preparation stage through season 3.

However, as updates occur changes to the migration process have also ensued how lords can move from server to server. Earlier, in the year, servers opened approximately once every 7 days. 16 servers were needed to enter season two’s preparation zone for them to enter into a state of war. Over the last few months, the time tables have shifted. New servers have begun to open once every 14 days, this means a longer duration for servers to enter into season 1 and 2 before those in season 2 and 3 move closer to the conquest stage. Additionally, servers can now enter into a state of war once 8 servers exist within the preparation zone. This means the windows to jump will become smaller. The need to collect portals before a lord even decides if they want to jump is critical.

As the window to jump closes, I anticipate lords will need to create scouting accounts sooner than what was done in the past to begin brokering conversation with leadership of potential servers, and to observe the strength and behaviors of the members within that server, to determine if it will be a good fit for both parties.

I look forward to meeting new friends along the way who jumped into my server to scout for a potential new forever and/or long-term temporary home.

I remember being a part of the tedious planning to aid my alliance to jump. The multitude of discussions regarding where, at what time, and to which alliance will the best move be. I have seen great possibilities thrown out the window as no longer viable due to one thing or another; and fielded the hundreds of questions from members of what is happening. While this is a game of war, spies exist, rouges wreak havoc, and servers and alliances will remain cautious of new parties knocking at their door. However, I urge all of you to be patient with one another and remember you have a whole community behind you, willing to help aid and guide you through this jumping process so you can remain playing within active servers with your infinity kingdom friends and family.

I know I was not able to provide exact times on when servers can move from one season to another. However, I do hope this guide provided some answers to your questions, and will become a useful tool to aid you through your journey within infinity kingdom.
