The Making of a Champion - Arena of Honor Season 5 Round 10

The summer is approaching in Westeros, and this season of Arena of Honor is getting closer and closer to its end. For [N0X]OliverQ is time for the 10th round, a round that can be decisive for him getting the Glory King rank or not. With such high stakes on sight, he used the 2 weeks after the 9th round to prepare as good as he can, rally more troops in his ranks and keep pushing the research towards discovering the much needed valyrian steel weapons. Time passed so quickly and before he knew it was already Sunday at noon and since despite all his efforts he couldn't find a team yet, it was the time for him to march towards the Mercenary Camp, so he rallied all his best soldiers along with the best commanders and dragons and left the [N0X] base. Upon arriving to the camp, he went directly to the registration tavern and signed the papers required and then waited patiently for the matchmaking to be done by the Old Gods.

The matchmaking it's quickly done in Arena of Honor so within minutes, the battlefield gates opened, and every house representative got out to select their team for this fight. OliverQ was chosen by Daenerys Targaryen this round, to fight for house Targaryen in the South-West forests of the battlefield and together with OliverQ Daenerys also choose [AIA]AngelSaintHD, [TWB]camp1tos, [NdT]leprotto, belvas, [NW1]great king, [ADm]Lucky Cat and [SsT]Tazme.

After the team got to know each other, they marched together with Daenerys to the South-West and one they arrived there, they set the basecamps next to the House Stark's Clan Castle. After setting his camp OliverQ quickly ordered his scouts to go around battlefield and try to see what the other houses are up to. Once the raven returned OliverQ noticed that for the first time in a very long time there were no premade teams on the battlefield so the chances to get a win increased a bit for his team, at least that's what he was thinking.

Team Presentation

The fight started quickly after with the opening of the first set of strongholds and everyone in the team rushed towards them to occupy and reinforce them as quickly as possible and start the points generation.

After 2 minutes of occupation, it was time for the construction to start and OliverQ as the assigned team commander decided to once again go with military camps in hopes to occupy at least one more clan castle and why not the catapults to help them keep City of Glory when it will come to that.

At least the first part of the plan worked perfectly once again and within minutes of the battle start the House Targaryen managed to occupy the House Tyrell's clan castle. With 2 Clan Castles now secured, it was time for the team to focus on the altars as they started opening and holding as many as possible will surely benefit them in the economy of the fight. With so many altars to occupy and not so much time OliverQ decided to go in full force without scouting and hope for the best.

His strategy worked for a while at least, as he was taking enemies by surprise and end their domination swiftly but as the time progressed, they started reinforcing each other and OliverQ suffered some crushing defeats, so he had to go back to scouting before attacking. Despite suffering some setbacks, the House Targaryen managed to secure enough altars in time and good that they did cause the most important building, the City of Glory was about to drop the protective bubble open for attacks.

As soon as the bubble dropped, some of the warriors on the battlefield tried to go with solo attacks, but the neutral NPCs ain't a force to mess with in lower stake maps so all the solos ended up in crushing defeats. Seeing that, the houses decided to change strategies and send their best warriors to organize rallies instead.

LuckyCat decided to take the banner for the House Targaryen, and he quickly organized a rally that got reinforced and in a matter of minutes it was already at the city's gates ready to challenge the NPCs guarding 'it.

The NPCs got evicted quite quickly but now the hard part was coming, defending the city for the 4 minutes required to fully occupy 'it. The rallies from the Starks and the Lannister's were quickly forming and within minutes they were already at the city gates ready to challenge the Targaryen's defenses.

Despite doing their best and winning some of the battles, the rallies were too many and coming in a quick succession it was almost impossible for them to defend, so the city fell into enemy hands once again and they got back into attacking position. The battle continued between House Targaryen, House Lannister and House Stark for tens of minutes, troops falling on all sides, rallies after rallies hitting from everywhere and it was looking like no house is strong enough to keep the city for the 4 minutes required to fully occupy the city.

But then with 10 minutes left till the end of the round, a miracle happened on the battlefield, the reinforcements came in time after each rally and the House Targaryen managed to occupy the City of Glory. Raising the Targaryen's flag above the city basically signaled the end of the fight, as there was not enough time left for the other houses to fully occupy the city.

After a very hard-fought battle, OliverQ and the rest of the team seen the results of never giving up and fighting till the end. Excellent win for them, and a very important win for him as he managed to stay on the path of maybe reaching the Glory King rank by the end of the season. Will he be able to get there while continuing to go on solo queue? Or maybe he'll find a team before the next round? We'll have to wait and see. See you all on the battlefield!
