Relying on luck - Invasion

Another season of the Champion City Siege had come to an end, and once again, I failed to drop the power of my main account. I was getting further and further away from finally stepping onto the battlefield and beginning the long journey of becoming a merit hunter. I was extremely frustrated because I was trying not to destroy my troops for no reason. I wanted something in return, battle tokens or some merit points, and the Champion City Siege was my best opportunity for that. I don't have any other options left, as starting to hunt with nearly 2 billion power is practically impossible. Spending more than 10 scrolls, sometimes even over 20, just to jump between different kingdoms is… madness. Even with a good stockpile, I would burn through everything within a few weeks.
I still could not fully commit to major invasions, but I could attack smaller targets or even fill rallies whenever one of my friends needed help, just like I did when Aventio needed infantry fillers, or Phantom79 needed cavalry fillers to take down a massive target in Kingdom 429. Even though I had woken up at three in the morning to play, my Champion City Siege match had gone really well. I was reviewing all the battle reports and upgrading the quality of my badges when a notification suddenly popped up on my Discord. Someone needed fillers for a rally. I immediately went to check what was going on.

A target had been found in Kingdom 205, nearly two billion power, a wall built around a strong and solid bow formation, and more than 20 million Tier 4 troops, all heavily mixed. Even so, it was still very dangerous. Because of the low amount of resources left in his inventory, Phantom79 did not want to risk a solo attack, so he asked for someone to join his rallies, at least one filler.
I donʼt know, something about it felt strange. The target was sitting in King's Landing, and on the other side, there were three players from NBe. I could not find any active defense tower. Something felt off. Three officers were online, and I had the feeling that the defense tower would be dropped at any moment, and we would lose both the opportunity and the scroll.
I knew how badly Phantom79 wanted to do that, so the moment I made my decision, I sent him a message, and he immediately teleported in and opened the first rally. I didnʼt have many cavalry troops, and I was also low on resources to heal. So with every rally, I would have fewer troops available to send, but I still knew it would be enough to help. Time was passing. Waiting five minutes for a rally to launch is a nightmare. I was certain that something bad was going to happen. Either those NBe players would get involved, someone would send reinforcements, or the defense tower would be activated. Five minutes was more than enough time for any of those things to happen. And then, against all our expectations, the first rally was sent.

The result of the rally broke all expectations, it was way cheaper than we thought. We suffered less than two hundred thousand losses only. Elix could not say the same; more than three million of his Tier 4 troops were wiped out in a matter of minutes. There was only Phantom79 and me, but after that rally, I realized we could defeat that castle without much trouble or major losses.
Even without having five red weapons and with only a few advisors available, there was no denying that Elixʼs defense was solid. But one thing immediately caught my attention: he was using spear troops on the front line. The first rally wiped out almost all of those spear troops, while the other troop types remained mostly untouched. But that was about to change in the second rally.
I had a little over 150k Tier 4 troops in the hospital and had to spend some blue diamonds to heal them. I also needed to revive some of my troops at the altar. And once I finished doing both, I sent everything I still had available into the second rally.

More than ten minutes had already passed since we teleported into that kingdom and opened the first rally. I still do not understand why, but THP was not using the defense tower. I checked the alliance members, and there were four officers online. Did they not have the defense tower available, or were they just ignoring what was happening inside their own kingdom? Either way, the second rally was launched, bringing even more destruction to Elixʼs castle and defenses. In total, a little over two million soldiers were sent into that operation, wiping out more than eight and a half million enemy troops and returning to base with just over two hundred thousand losses.
The second rally was enough to kill nearly all of the Tier 4 spear troops and infantry, along with a large portion of the cavalry, while the bow troops remained untouched. Once again, I repositioned myself and sent my troops into the third rally.

The third rally caused a massive explosion across Elixʼs wall, and to be honest, I thought things would become much more difficult in that impact. Elix had five million Tier 4 bows on his wall, along with three million cavalry troops. His strongest battle stats were focused on bows, and his weapon wall gave him a huge boost. But the result was the complete opposite.
Elix watched his men being brutally slaughtered by more than two million cavalry troops. In total, he lost more than seven and a half million troops, including nearly five million Tier 4 soldiers. Elix was close to defeat, and only one more attack would be necessary to wipe out the remainder of his army and capture his Lord.

Phantom79 opened a fourth rally, and as soon as I saw the scouting report, I asked him to switch to a solo attack to finish it faster. I did not need the merit since I was helping with a secondary account, so it did not make a difference for me, but I knew it mattered to him. And the fourth attack, the Phantomʼs solo strike, destroyed Elix and brought his Lord back as a prisoner of war.
That was the fall of Elix. A warrior with almost two billion power and a scary composition of troops had become a prisoner of war. Shortly after, we left the kingdom. Phantom reacted normally, for him, it was just a workday, but I was electric. This was the second time I participated in Phantom79ʼs rallies, where strong players were present in the kingdom, and the alliance could drop the defense tower. These are details that can either work in your favor or ruin your invasion. Today, fortunately, we were lucky, but I am not sure if luck will be on our side next time. Thank you for reading until here.
