💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield (IB) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins, so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the regular season match between Server M014’s Veterans(VT) and Server 243’s Knights of Valhalla(KoV). KoV's positions in this match will be denoted in green while VT's will be in red.

💠Overview

VT and KoV come from relatively young servers with limited Illusion Battlefield and IBL experience, and both can field comparable numbers week to week. KoV brings energy and cohesion typical of newer servers, but lacks veteran shot-calling in high pressure moments. VT, by contrast, has leaders from older servers who add proven macro planning, cleaner rotations, and better objective timing. With similar headcount but stronger leadership fundamentals, VT should be the favorite while KoV remains a live underdog if they execute cleanly.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

VT

  • Started with 15 players and ended with 25
  • 10 Attack talents
  • 5 Defense talents
  • 0 Support talents

KoV

  • Started with 16 players and ended with 26
  • 7 Attack talents
  • 9 Defense talents
  • 0 Support talents

💠Tower 1

At Tower 1, both VT and KoV sent four players, but neither side executed clean positioning. Only two players from each team relocated close to the tower while the others landed several spaces away, leaving large gaps in coverage. With both sides misaligned, control of the tower ultimately depended on who could destroy enemy relocations first or which team had the stronger player holding position near the objective.

💠Tower 4

At Tower 4, KoV sent seven players while VT sent eight. KoV had several edge spawns that could have blocked at least three VT relocations, but only one player attempted it and he contested just a single spot. If he had waited a moment to read VT’s landings, he could have blocked multiple paths. KoV ceded too much space and VT advanced freely when they should not have been able to get near the tower.

💠Central Tower

At the Central Tower, KoV sent two players while VT sent four, giving VT the early numbers and control. Given the map layout, KoV should have abandoned Tower 1 and VT should have dropped Tower 4 to contest mid, since central control shapes rotations and reinforcement paths. Tower 4 favors the top-side team due to proximity to spawn and punishes the bottom-side team for the same reason, making mid the higher-value fight for both.

💠Altars

KoV sent one to the Moon Altar. VT didn’t send anyone to either altar.

💠Home Towers

KoV had two guards at their home tower. VT chose to leave theirs unguarded.

💠Play-by-Play

KoV reached Tower 1 first and immediately sent marches into the objective. VT did not attempt to kick them out, so KoV captured the tower at the six minute mark. After securing it, KoV dropped a relocation in the middle of VT’s group, and VT failed to delete it in time. The gamble backfired as VT focused fire, zeroed the exposed KoV accounts one by one, and wrapped a ring around the tower. As the fight stabilized, one VT player began relocating toward KoV’s Tower 3.

VT opened Tower 4 by blocking one relocation while KoV failed to block or destroy any despite having the top side advantage. VT stacked several of their strongest accounts at the objective and began zeroing KoV targets from the closest outward until the area was clear. Even after VT amassed more bodies around the tower, the flip did not happen right away and the capture finally completed at the 15 minute mark. With control secured, part of the VT squad peeled toward the center to set up the next fight.

KoV opened mid by deleting a VT relocation that landed too close, but VT immediately answered by zeroing a KoV player. KoV tried to bring another ally into the pocket, yet VT blocked the relocation and held space. As VT’s pair advanced, the lone KoV defender punched back, destroying one relocation and zeroing the other attacker, before VT cleaned him up on the counter. KoV then surged six more players toward center, VT failed to delete several of those landings, and KoV briefly outnumbered them. A top VT account teleported in, blocked a key relocation, and zeroed two nearby targets, buying time for reinforcements peeling from Tower 4. With numbers restored, VT methodically deleted the remaining KoV around the node and captured the Central Tower at the 25 minute mark.

A lone KoV player held at Tower 1 and gave VT trouble. He zeroed one VT account while two others drifted away from the tower. He relocated smartly toward weaker VT targets and they failed to delete his landings. He solo killed the nearby VT players. VT then brought in another player to the objective and slipped the capture, stealing Tower 1 at the 25 minute mark.

On the far side of the map, a KoV player slipped to the outskirts of Tower 4 while multiple VT players rotated from the tower toward the center. KoV then teleported another player into the middle of the VT group and the first mover crept closer to the objective. A third KoV arrival landed near the node and they began the capture. VT’s guards reacted late and offered no real resistance, so KoV flipped the tower cleanly. KoV finished by zeroing the remaining VT nearby and cutting off incoming relocations.

💠Summary

VT defeated KoV 94,700 to 63,200, with KinCaid earning MVP. VT weathered early pressure at Tower 1, secured Tower 4, then won a pivotal mid fight to capture the Central Tower around the 25 minute mark. They repeatedly punished slow or missed relocation deletes, flipped KoV’s Tower 2 at 40 minutes, and traded towers efficiently to protect an 18,000 point cushion down the stretch. KoV found pockets of success with opportunistic flips, but VT’s stronger rotations and cleaner finishes decided the match.
