[PLAYER GUIDE] Night King Invasion (Update October 2025)

This guide reflects the author’s personal experience and the game’s content as it exists at the time of writing. Future updates may alter features or introduce new content.

The Night King Invasion is a special PvE kingdom event that appears periodically in Game of Thrones Winter is Coming. When it begins, your screen briefly freezes, and a snowstorm effect spreads across the map; that’s your warning that the invasion is about to start.

Event Duration

It’s an event that lasts for 11 days; every day, the white walkers come closer and closer. Every phase announces where they will pop up. Every phase announces where the walkers will appear next, so you can prepare accordingly. As seen in the screenshot:

Objective

The goal of this event is to kill the Night King when he shows up. He will appear and be attackable when his bubble drops. His location is marked clearly on the map (highlighted in red in the screenshot below).

Recommended Safe Method

You can port close to the Night King and attack him; however, if you do so, you lose your bubble. So you have to be vigilant. This event is very popular for invasions. Besides enemies attacking you, the white walkers also start to rally you if you port in the barren lands, and these attacks can be very painful. After surviving 5 attacks or being defeated once, you get automatically ported out of the area.

Pay attention, those attacks are hitting hard; it’s important to clear your hospitals in a timely fashion.

If you want to play this safe, and this is recommended, you don’t port close to the Night King, u port on the border:

Generally speaking, you can port like 3 tiles away from the border of Winterfell:

From this distance, you can solo-attack or rally the Night King safely. A rally does more damage, but solo attacks are a bit faster. What’s an important rule of thumb: in your attack, you use 10% t1’s and the rest of your highest tier.

The deaths are real, but if you use this method, u lose only t1’s. So if you don’t use the meatshield of t1’s, you lose higher-tier troops.

The faster you kill the Night King, the better the rewards:

Stat Boost Phases

Another thing to keep in account, some things can help you beat the Night King: 

During the first 5 days, you can earn temporary buffs by completing small daily tasks, for example, training troops to increase your power or gathering resources.

Each day grants a specific bonus, as shown above on the second day, from training troops to increase power by 90000, you get +200% total attack, +200% total defence, and +200% total health. This can make it easier to kill the Night King. These boosts are very powerful and can make a huge difference when fighting the Night King.

The Night King’s Strength

The Night King’s stats mimic the strongest player in your kingdom, so the stronger your kingdom’s top player, the tougher the fight. Therefore, it’s recommended that your strongest player is on gathering talents, so that it's easier to kill the Night King.

If you hit the white walkers/general daily, you get these rewards:

Besides these rewards, there are also other rewards, which are general rewards you receive once every Night King event, from killing white walkers. You get max rewards from dealing 15M damage:

Lastly, if you open the Rewards tab during the Night King Invasion, you’ll see two main reward categories, one for defeating the Night King’s troops and another for defeating the White Walker Generals.
