💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the Week Eight Point Phase match between Server M014’s 1000 Kinks(1K) and Server 341’s Honor of Kings(HoK). 1K’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while HoK’s will be in red.

💠Overview
1K hails from Server M014, a server run by veterans, and is a conglomerate of multiple servers. They have only played three games heading into this match, resulting in a 2-1 record. Their two wins were against inactive alliances, and their loss was unimpressive. HoK played seven games so far this season, resulting in a 4-3 record. They started off hot with a three-game win streak before dropping their next three of four matches. There weren’t many positives in any of their matches either. Both teams usually field around the same number of players every week, so I would favor the alliance with veterans.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
HoK
- Started with 8 players and ended with 25
- 5 Attack talents
- 2 Defense talents
- 1 Support talents
1K

💠Tower 1
1K sent five players to Tower 1 with one overlap, and HoK sent three players. Three of 1K’s members were not adjacent to the tower. They had gaps between each other, so attacks, garrisons, and rallies would be slower. All three of HoK’s members were next to the tower, so if they zeroed the lone enemy next to the tower, they would have priority on the tower since the distance to the tower is shorter.
💠Tower 4
1K only sent one player to Tower 4, and HoK sent four. Typically, as the top-sided team, 1K would forgo Tower 1 and try to control Tower 4, but 1K didn’t have any good edge spawns to use to block HoK’s relocations. In this case, they should have spread the alliance evenly between Tower 1 and Tower 4. Three of HoK’s players are far from the tower, but if they can land some solo attacks and rallies, they should be able to take control easily.
💠Central Tower
1K sent one player to the Central Tower, and HoK sent three. Both teams should have given up control of the middle in the early minutes. With so few players in the game from both sides, either can wrestle control of the center if needed in the mid and end-game.
💠Altars
1K didn’t send anyone to either altar. HoK sent two players to the Sun Altar and one player to the Moon Altar.
💠Home Towers
1K didn’t have anyone guarding their home tower in the opening minutes, while HoK had one at theirs.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, 1K destroyed two relocations and had a latecomer come reinforce the tower. They immediately moved to seize the tower and captured it a few minutes later. They zeroed the lone enemy shortly after and controlled the tower for the rest of the match. Although HoK had players move next to the tower, they sent members who didn’t have good spawns, which is crucial to controlling the area around the tower. They should have sent their closest members to the positions that would take the least amount of time to relocate to.

At Tower 4, 1K held off multiple members of HoK for an extended period of time because most of them were so far from the tower. HoK sent two more players to the tower, and the others moved close when they could. They finally zeroed the single enemy at the 11-minute mark and captured the tower a minute later. It should not take HoK over a few minutes to zero one person. They should have focused on rallying him before sieging the tower. They also wouldn’t need to commit so many players for one outer tower.

In the center, HoK had a three-to-one advantage in the early minutes. A few minutes later, they sent two more players to surround the tower and the single 1K player who met his demise eight minutes into the match. 1K tried to relocate three players to the center, but their relocations were subsequently blocked. Instead of blocking the relocations, HoK should have destroyed them so those players would be unable to relocate for the next three minutes. By the time the tower opened, there were ten members around it. HoK took the tower at the 13-minute mark, but they were behind by 4,000 points. HoK should not need more than seven or eight players around the Central Tower. Once they saw no enemies in the vicinity, they should have moved and split to protect their two outer towers.

Five minutes into the match, HoK’s home guard started moving towards 1K’s home tower, where there was only one person. He started sieging the tower while the guard fell asleep and didn’t kick him out of the tower. HoK nearly stole the tower until a couple of 1K members moved from their spawn and stopped the siege dead in its tracks. HoK sent a couple more players to the tower, but 1K responded with many of their own. They zeroed all the invaders without much trouble. At the same time, 1K moved multiple players to HoK’s home tower. The lone guard stood no match against the three invaders, and 1K stole the tower at the 14-minute mark.

Because HoK was having so much trouble retaking their home tower, they relocated some players from the Central Tower to help. That gave 1K an opening to attack the site. At the 26-minute mark, HoK failed to destroy a couple of relocations. 1K made them pay by zeroing some players around the tower, which further gave room for more 1K to move in. HoK got overwhelmed by the numbers, and 1K stole the tower at the 38-minute mark. 1K would also go on to take Tower 4, giving them control of every objective on the map, and they cruised to a comfortable win.

💠Summary
1K’s Eng. Mostafa was the match MVP as they won with 100,000 points to HoK’s 44,650. HoK’s poor performance stems from their poor assignments in the opening minutes. Players who spawned far from Tower 1 were assigned to go to Tower 1, which caused them to get their relocations destroyed. They also relocated poorly to Tower 4, which cost them valuable time with the tower. They did well to control the Central Tower, but once they had three towers, they needed to split their members up more evenly. They left their home tower to attack 1K’s home tower for no reason. 1K did well to spot objectives that were poorly defended and took advantage. They stood their ground at HoK’s home tower, where it is usually difficult to defend. 1K also destroyed HoK's relocations well. Now, if only they could fix their attendance problems. 1K moved to 3-1 while HoK dropped to 4-4.
