Welcome to part 27 of my Wukong series. If you want to keep storylines in order, please read King Arthur's Quest part 21 AFTER you read this story.

We are following three famous fire immortals and their ally Wukong, who is currently training in the arts of fire. They have had a tough journey as of late, and their adventure is only going to get harder. 

📄 Recap of Part 26: “The Siege of the Stone Titan”

Arthur and Morgana, seeking vengeance against Camelot, secretly summon a massive golem to attack the city, ensuring no trace leads back to them. Wukong and his allies—Wu, Hippolyta, and Seondeok—battle the towering creature, strategically targeting its magical runes and ultimately bringing it down, but the victory leaves them wary of the unseen threat behind the attack.

🔷 Part 27: “Hunt For Summoners”

The fires of battle had died down, but the tension in Camelot remained thick. Wukong stood atop the castle walls, his golden eyes scanning the horizon. The golem was defeated, but its presence had left an undeniable truth—this was no random attack. Someone had sent it, and they would strike again.

Behind him, Wu, Hippolyta, and Seondeok gathered, their expressions grim.

"We cannot wait for another attack," Seondeok said, arms crossed. "If we continue to defend and do nothing more, the next assault may be even worse."

"Agreed," Wu said, nodding. "We must take the fight to them. Whoever summoned that golem is still out there, and they will not stop until Camelot falls."

Hippolyta tightened her grip on her sword. "Then let’s hunt them down before they get another chance. We follow the magic’s source and cut off the threat at its root."

Wukong smirked, tapping his staff against his shoulder. "Now that’s more like it. I was growing tired of waiting for problems to come knocking on our doorstep. If they want a war, we’ll bring it to them."

Seondeok’s eyes narrowed. "Tracking magic like that won’t be easy, but it’s not impossible. The runes on the golem were ancient—whoever summoned it had access to powerful knowledge."

Wu knelt on the ground, her fingers brushing the remnants of the shattered golem. The magic that had bound the creature had faded, but traces still lingered. Closing her eyes, she reached out with his own magic, feeling the faint echoes of the spell that had brought the beast to life. A slow smirk formed on his lips.

"I have a trail," Wu said, standing. "Faint, but strong enough to follow. If we move quickly, we might find them before they vanish into the shadows."

Wukong twirled his staff. "Then what are we waiting for?"

Under the cover of night, the four warriors set out from Camelot, following the invisible threads of magic that only Wu could sense. The path led them deep into the forest, where the air grew thick with an unnatural energy. The trees whispered as if warning them away, but they pressed on.

Hours passed, and the trail led them to a clearing, where the ruins of an ancient temple lay shrouded in moonlight. Standing within its crumbling walls were two figures, their dark cloaks billowing in the night wind.

Arthur and Morgana.

Wukong gripped his staff, his instincts urging him to charge, but Seondeok placed a hand on his shoulder, shaking her head. "Not yet."

They watched as Arthur and Morgana stood before a circle of glowing runes, their voices hushed but urgent. Wu strained to hear, focusing his magic to enhance his senses. Snippets of their conversation reached him.

"The golem failed," Arthur muttered, frustrated in his tone. "Camelot still stands."

Morgana's eyes burned with determination. "Then we try again. A stronger summon, something they won’t see coming. We will bring Camelot to its knees."

Wukong’s grip on his staff tightened, fury simmering beneath the surface. He turned to his companions, voice low and sharp. "We’ve found our enemy. The question is—what do we do next?"

As they exchanged glances, the weight of the coming battle settled over them. The hunt was over, but the real fight had just begun.
