🔷 Introduction

Welcome to part 12 of my King Arthur series, where we are following King Arthur's magician journey that has not taken its traditional path. It is filled with forbidden magic and a will to change it. But the path has been dark and twisted as Arthur has been influenced greatly by others, including a dark witch!

📄 Recap of Part 11: Return of the Dark King

Arthur and Morgana, intoxicated by their newfound power, storm Camelot and usurp King Uther, leaving the kingdom in ruins and under their dark dominion. Camelot, once a beacon of hope, succumbs to chaos as the duo revels in their unchallenged supremacy.

🔷 Part 12: “The Wizard of Reason”

The once-great hall of Camelot, now a shadow of its former self, echoed with the footsteps of those who dared to enter. Arthur sat on the throne, the weight of his newfound power evident in his sharp gaze. By his side, Morgana stood like a dark queen, her eyes watching every move with keen interest.

Arthur had summoned his old knights, those who had once sworn loyalty to Camelot but had now chosen to follow him. They entered one by one, their faces a mix of reverence and uncertainty. Among them were Sir Kay, Sir Percival, and Sir Bors, each with a deep respect for Arthur's strength and the potential for a new Camelot under his rule.

"Knights of Camelot," Arthur began, his voice echoing through the hall. "This kingdom will no longer shun magic. It will be a place where power is respected and those with abilities are free to live without fear. Join me, and we shall reshape Camelot into a realm where all can thrive."

Sir Kay stepped forward, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "I have always believed in your strength, Arthur. If this is the future you envision, then I will stand by your side."

The other knights nodded in agreement, their loyalty solidified by the promise of a new and powerful Camelot.

As Arthur solidified his plans with his knights, a messenger entered the hall, his face pale with urgency. "My lord, Merlin the Great Wizard of Water requests an audience."

Arthur’s eyes narrowed. "Merlin, you say? Very well. Let him enter."

Merlin, with his long, flowing robes and an air of wisdom, entered the hall. He was a stark contrast to the darkness that had settled over Camelot. His eyes, filled with calm determination, met Arthur’s.

"Arthur," Merlin began, his voice steady, "I come not to battle with magic but to reason with you. Camelot has changed, but at what cost?"

Arthur leaned forward, his eyes hard. "Camelot was dying under Uther's rule. Magic was forbidden, its potential wasted. I will rebuild this kingdom into something greater."

Merlin stepped closer, his gaze never wavering. "Power without wisdom is a double-edged sword, Arthur. You seek to allow magic, but will you control it, or will it control you?"

Arthur stood, the wind swirling around him in a display of his power. "I am in control, Merlin. I will bring order where there was chaos."

Merlin raised a hand, the air around him growing calm. "Order comes from balance, not domination. You have the chance to lead, not through fear, but through understanding and unity. Let the people choose to follow you out of respect, not terror."

Morgana’s eyes flashed with irritation, but Arthur raised a hand to silence her. "Speak plainly, Merlin. What do you propose?"

"Allow magic, yes," Merlin said, "but also ensure it is used for the good of all. Create laws that protect the innocent and guide the powerful. Show the people that magic can be a force for prosperity, not destruction."

Arthur paused, considering Merlin's words. The hall was silent, the tension palpable. Finally, he spoke, his voice firm. "I will allow magic, but it will be governed by laws that ensure its proper use. Camelot will be a place where all, magic and non-magic alike, can live and thrive."

Merlin nodded, a hint of a smile on his lips. "Then you have taken the first step towards true greatness, Arthur. Lead with wisdom, and you will find loyalty stronger than any spell."

As Merlin left the hall, Arthur turned to his knights. "We will rebuild Camelot, not just with power, but with purpose. Spread the word: Camelot is reborn."

The knights saluted, their eyes filled with a renewed sense of hope and determination. Morgana, though still wary of Merlin's influence, could not deny the wisdom in his words.

Camelot would rise again, a beacon of strength and unity, guided by a leader who understood the true meaning of power. And in the shadows, Merlin watched, ready to guide and counsel when needed, a silent guardian of the new era.

📄 Recap Questions

How long will the sudden change of heart to not dominate with power but to rule with purpose last for our new King?

Who will have greater influence on Arthur's life, Morgana or Merlin? Both have played significant roles in his life.

🔷 Conclusion

Arthur seems to have turned over a new leaf, finding what passion he used to have and using that for good even though he just abused his power to seize control of a kingdom he used to love and admire.
