The Promised King

The scribe, only able to sleep for a few short hours at a time, gazed north at the massive water fortress pushing hard against the waves.

On board, the Mage stayed focused as he parted the approaching waves which rose hundreds of feet above the bow of his ship. His memories constantly reliving his short but direct meeting with the Shadow Queen.

"An oath and a promise has been made this day", she said as her wings fluttered to keep her balance as she stood on the foremast causing drops of the cold salty sea water to to make a rainbow behind her.

"You will have your King", she continued, " and I will not finish raising my clan for at least a years time AND the Princeps Senatus is seated."

The Mages only desire was to spellcast her into oblivion before her forces are assembled because it might take all 3 armed forces to subdue them, if they are allowed to full strength, but for now, it's urgent that his King is found.

Watching the Shadow Queen as she flew out of view, all soldiers were hailed telepathically to locate a suitable King until their rightful ruler is sitting on the throne. Only then will his own powers reach full strength.
